Nuisance calls up despite opt-out service

People registered with the Telephone Preference Service get double the average number of nuisance calls received by those who do not use it, according to a study.

The TPS is a free service for those who do not wish to receive telemarketing calls, with most UK firms that make live marketing calls legally required to screen calls against its lists.

But a survey by Which? found those registered with TPS still receive on average double the number of unsolicited calls than those not signed up.

    Code:

Did you know People will question all the good things they hear about you but believe all the bad without a second thought.

i get plenty of these calls bloody annoying but the ones that pee me off is the ones that ask
is that mr xxx or is mrs xxx there, when I ask who wants to know or whos calling they answer cant tell you data protection.
so I dont answer then they ask again can they speak to mr xxx or mrs xxx I then reply cant tell you ,
which always get why cant you tell me .They get angry when I reply cant tell you data protection.
Some have then told me who they are ,but some demand that I tell them who I am which gets them nowhere.

With my home and mobile phone I can program in numbers to ignore. That way my phone just picks them up without ringing and drops the call without me even knowing or hearing it. The only downside is that I have to program in the numbers to ignore. Worst part is although I can tell it to ignore withheld numbers, the people who I do want to get in touch with me, doctors, bank etc use withheld numbers. Sham really.

Thats complete bollocks, if they ask for you by name then they have more than likey have your deatails on computer therefore have to diverge any information they have on you if requsted including who they are and in what relation that data is stored for.

First thing i ALWAYS say is who's asking, and then if I do not know who they are or do not want to talk to them follow up with 'This number does not confirm in way any deatails to someone who can confirm who they are (which is bloody hard over the phone) if yiou need to contact anyone in this household please do so by post'
