It's illegal, but the government will help

Drug users are to be offered free foil, used as a surface to heat up drugs like heroin, to encourage them to get help for their addiction.
New laws will allow drug treatment providers to offer the foil as part of efforts to get addicts into treatment, and to protect their health.
The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) made the recommendation.
Home Secretary Theresa May said mechanisms will be put in place to monitor the provision of foil.

Aluminium foil is used as a cooking surface when heating up certain drugs so they can be injected, while heroin, marijuana, cocaine and crystal meth can be smoked from it.
    Health risks
The ACMD, which advises the government, said the available evidence shows that providing drug paraphernalia such as foil at treatment centres "does increase the number of individuals who engage with the services".

The idea is that addicts can use the foil to inhale heroin, rather than injecting it.
Martin Barnes, the chief executive of charity DrugScope, has welcomed the news.
He said the move does not mean foil "must or will be provided" but can be offered as part of an overall package of advice, support and treatment.
"Support that enables heroin and other drug users to reduce the risks to themselves and others can be the catalyst for engaging with treatment and support for recovery," he said.

and there was me thinking that drugs were illegal. Health risks from not using foil - no health risks from the use of illegal drugs then? What next free herion? I'd supply them all with Cif to inject, much cleaner and they only do it once.

    Monitor the provision of foil?

Typical. If i went and asked the government for some tin foil to cook my chicken in they would tell me to F off.
Junkies seem to get everything handed to them.

Countrys getting worse by the minute.

Yes i can see it now, junkies turn to catering instead of the needle after hearing about free foil

Seriously i dont know why we do not make ALL drugs legal.

We wouldnt have to have cuts to services it could be taxed

It would save millions chasing drug dealers from police coffers, and stop all these drug dealers selling crap bashed up drugs that contain little of what they are supposed too

We can drink we can smoke we tax it, its a free choice so why not sell it. Better quality gear and money made from it can help the country and the needy.

I dont think there will be more drug addicts its all readily available anyway, there is no sense in them being illegal. Alcohol addiction is no different to drug addiction

If you want an e or a spliff or use some whizz to keep you trim its your perogative, so lets have it all legal and regulated

So if I were so minded I could nip in, grab a few deals and sell it around the corner. Sounds profitable and if I get it for free from the NHS then it's all ok. No wonder the NHS is having to save 20 billion, despite being ring fenced. I notice they have needle bins for addicts in the toilets of hospitals as well, will they be putting ash trays in there as well?

Thats a ****in farce too, heroin funds taliban yet our soldiers leave the mass fields of opium alone, some of it near camps , then wait for them to sell it and buy more weapons

I'd understood that they destroyed it? I know someone who was in the army in Belize and they used to fire the fields of hash up, then stand downwind

In Afghanistan the opium fields that are left alone belong to the Taliban that stitch their fellow Taliban up. The Worlds Governments basically pay the Taliban and village elders to behave themselves, there's that many of them you couldn't keep on top of them all. You bribe the main leaders and they keep on top of the rest. The same as we did to the IRA. The main leaders got off with the odd activity to make them look like they were fighting for the Catholics and were allowed to keep their millions and in return we got tipped off about major incidents. The idiots that funded them thought they were fighting for the cause and carried out the dirty work and took all the punishments while they lived the life of luxury.
