    At last

Radical cleric Abu Qatada is expected to be deported to Jordan overnight to stand trial on terrorism charges.
He is due to board a military plane in the UK, which will take him back to his home country, in the early hours.
His deportation was approved after the UK and Jordan signed a treaty agreeing that evidence obtained through torture would not be used against him.
The legal battle to deport Qatada has lasted almost 10 years and has cost the UK more than ?1.7m ($2.5m).
The 53-year-old cleric is expected to be driven out of London's Belmarsh Prison on Saturday evening and taken to a waiting plane at RAF Northolt, in west London.
The BBC understands that he will be accompanied on the flight by a team of six people from Jordan, comprising three security officials, a psychologist, a medical examiner and his Jordanian lawyer.
He has not returned to Jordan since he fled to the UK 20 years ago.

"But it does appear that he's accepted the latest developments, and should be on his way to Jordan in the early hours of the morning."

If it was an MP claiming back 1.7 million the claim would be for 3.4 million + 2 million in expenses for having to fill out the paperwork.

I'd make him cking swim back, after all he made his own way here, why should we pay to send him back.... but I bet we do. Are his family going with him, or are we just giving him an excuse to come back to the UK or claim his rights have been violated?

Gone, but not forgotten even by May. Now being used as an excuse to try wriggle out of the Human Rights Act. The reason he was deported originally was that Jordan admitted that it had used evidence in the past that it had obtained by torture and that was the only reason it was unacceptable to deport him Jordan. Once that was signed he was deported without any issue.

She also did not rule out the UK's withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights. Abu Qatada was deported on Sunday, following an eight-year legal battle. The Palestinian-Jordanian had been wanted in Jordan over a plot to bomb American and Israeli tourists during Jordan's millennium celebrations. His deportation was finally able to proceed after the UK and Jordan signed a treaty agreeing that evidence obtained through torture would not be used against him. "I have made clear my views that in the end the Human Rights Act must be scrapped," she said.
BBC News - Terror suspect benefits could be cut - Theresa May

So now the government want to remove that right and the only logic being that they want to deport people where they can be tortured or even given the death penalty. So before people jump on the bandwagon and say that the Human Rights Act shouldn't be used to stop deportation you should think:

                              Gary McKinnon

"After careful consideration of all of the relevant material, I have concluded that Mr McKinnon's extradition would give rise to such a high risk of him ending his life that a decision to extradite would be incompatible with Mr McKinnon's human rights."
BBC News - Gary McKinnon extradition to US blocked by Theresa May

So had it not been for the Human Rights Act he would have been deported. Is he a terrorist, no he's not. However no Human Rights Act he would be tried in the states.

If this government, or the next, wants to deport people without any lengthy appeals all the need to do is ensure that the country they are deporting people to does not use torture - simple as that. Nothing to do with getting rid of the Human Rights Act. Why did this government not do this before, save the taxpayers a lot of money and not get shown up to be so stupid? Playing to the sheep and blaming Europe and the Human Rights Act won't wash.

They, and all the sheep, need to sort themselves out rather than remove a piece f legislation that protects British citizens from our own and foreign government abuse - and it's needed to stop our government running roughshod over the rights of British citizens.

What goes next the right to peaceful protest in case a few million protest and expect the army to join in like Egypt? At least when China carries out internet surveillance the population knows it. Here they just lie and hide it. We probably have more surveillance, not just internet, than any other country in the world - it's just well hidden and we call ourselves civilised and sneer at China because it admits what it does - at least they're honest about it.
