UK Motor Industry Gets ?1bn Hi-Tech Boost

Britain's motor industry is to receive more than ?1bn in new funding over the next decade to improve its global competitiveness.

The joint UK motor industry and Government automotive strategy has agreed to the deal to help secure the growth and development of the vehicle and component manufacturing sector.

This new funding supports multi-billion pound investments announced in the last few years by global automotive companies to boost production levels and develop new technologies and models

Which British motor industry would this be? We paying Lotus, Noble and McClaren now? since I don't recall any other British manufacturers of cars - and that's if they're still British. We do make parts for all the foreign cars that are made here though. Or do they mean we're giving money to any company that makes their cars in the UK?

        Reply to thread,

This is Part of the problem with Britain today, Once we led the world for innovation, technology and Engineering. Look at history, Just about anything major in the world was invented in Britain in the past.

The only claim to fame now is we are trying to police the world and can't afford to, and play host to anyone who for any reason needs asylum and again we can no longer afford it.

We need to close the doors, reclaim our identity, be proud of our heritage and country and stop being so dammed stupid. Britain first and sod Europe and the world. "Charity starts at Home".

As a nation we have become lazy, It's time get off our backsides and get something done. I doubt if this or any Government has the Balls to do it.

Regisatred the wreath as a trade mark to bring it back, my arse bet they just stick one of them funny 'German stickers' on it and stick on a dusty shelf with more finny things drawn in the dust.

                  I corrected it for you

I fail to see any British companies in the 3 that were named by the BBC. The 3 are only in the UK so they don't have to pay import tariffs to the EU (by manufacturing/assembling in the EU), which they would have to pay if we weren't part f the EU. If we leave the EU they'll move to a country whereby they don't have to pay the tariffs to the EU. Incidentally we might have to if we leave as we'll, just as anyone in the EU might have to pay to export to us. All this is unknown..... I'm not really pro in the EU or not - I am pro telling the truth of the real cost of leaving or staying and until that is known I'd sooner stay because we know the cost.
