are you referring to section 16 with regards to being an add on to section 14 which in turn relates in a vague manner to section 16a,31 specifically, before rambling on for several pages about nothing in particular,can you paste in the part where I should allow inconsiderate and ignorant motorists to undertake me when I have sat patiently in line for long periods just because they want(not need) to reach their destination with no regard for other road users.

I've never once mentioned undertaking. Undertaking is only allowed if queues are forming and the lane to the right of you is travelling slower. I also don't have super powers that allow me to know if the other road users need to reach their destinations before me. I do know however that it makes common sense that if you are driving safely you will always leave enough room in front of you in case of an emergency. I'm not supporting someone bombing up at 70 mph then pushing in at the front of the queue. I'm highlighting that it makes common sense that if you have two lanes approaching road works use all of the road and merge in turn. This will reduce the length of the tail back and allow others to exit at junctions before the road works instead of sitting in a queue that's not going where you're going. It will also reduce the length of the queue due to more road users and more vehicles allowed to exit. It's akin to three pensioners walking side by side down the pavement stopping people getting past.

The way i see it.. in order to maximise the use of the motorway whilst someone is hogging lanes 2 and 3 the only way to keep to the speedlimit of 70mph would be to undertake..

Whilst the majority of the hoggers sit there at 50-60mph theyre making it dangerous.

A while back i was going to the town near us... this section is 2 lanes.. at national speed limit. 70MPH. this particular time a car was in the inside lane doing 30mph and a car was in the outside lane doing the same speed.. i could get past them.. i stayed behind for a mile and decided 30mph was taking the piss.. so i undertook on the hard shoulder..

When i looked in my rear view the car pulled in..

If there had been moderators there i wouldnt of had to do such an illegal menouver

in law,the fault lies with the guy in the outside lane,although the guy in the nearside lane is travelling at 30 it is not illegal,unless this sign is shown,otherwise there is no minimum speed on that road the guy in the offside lane is at fault because he is using an overtaking lane and hindering faster moving traffic,whenever there is room in the nearside lane every motorist should use it

I'm not sure what part it is you are on about that is missing but the part I'm talking about was about merging in turn which is explained in section 134 of the General rules for drivers from the Governments website. It clearly states merging in turn is recommended when approaching road works. As for undertaking there are a few times when it is legal. On a multi lane one way road where the traffic to the right of you is travelling slower. Read the last sentnece on chapter 143 of the above rules. You can also undertake where queues are forming on motorways and the traffic is travelling slowly. There's a perfect expample on the M8 in Glasgow at the Cathedral junction. There's four lanes on the Motorway and the right hand one exits towards the city. This regularly backs up onto the M8. If drivers never undertook the three lanes to the left would be stationary until the lights changed at the Cathedral leaving a lovely queue probably back to Glasgow Airport during rush hour.

thx for the advice,but can't be arsed reading any more vague road traffic rules,recently been diagnosed with anoraknophobia.fortunately the points are not a problem cos I treat my license with the same regard as my women and good suits (one for best and one for knocking about in).I have my lovely clean one for showing to employers and insurance companies and my other has more points than a Tesco clubcard.i am also blessed with being rich so the fines are no issue as well,thx for your concern tho
