Syria: UK Draws Up Plans For Military Action

Britain's Armed Forces are drawing up plans for military action in Syria as the Assad regime says it will use "all available means" to defend itself.

Prime Minister David Cameron, who is back in London after cutting short his family holiday, is deciding whether he will recall Parliament while he continues talks with global leaders on possible intervention.

Downing Street said Mr Cameron is considering what would constitute a "proportionate response" after the alleged toxic gas attack, which is said to have killed more than 1,300 people.

Mr Cameron is under pressure to be able to legally justify any intervention.

I don't think Syria has no oil, otherwise they'd have been in sooner - however Iran and Russia do and both support Syria.

The US has said there is "clear" evidence that President Bashar al-Assad's government was behind last week's attack on the outskirts of Damascus but Russia, a key ally of Syria, has questioned this.

All they have to is produce the receipts and check the serial numbers on the casings to confirm they sold them to Syria in the first place I would guess, since they haven't produced any evidence so far. Cameron is recalling MP's, but as it's already been pointed out he doesn't have to listen to them anyway - so looks like he's made up his mind already.

Once again the press fail to give the important details.

If the moron in charge of Syria has used chemical weapons against Syrian people, it's called genocide.. and it's classed as a war crime.

But unlike the ongoing arguments surrounding Blair/Bush & Iraq. Chemical weapons are banned by international law.

Intervention is the only option if the UN wants to ensure international law is enforced. But it should only be to remove Assad & the others directly involved in the use of the chemical weapons. The government should be left in charge as is. It's their civil war, not ours.

Good point meaty and most men around we had to see them with mask on the mouth, but if the "massacre" at Ghouta involved military-grade nerve gas from Asade govtt, all those doctors and others milling around the fallen victims would be dead or in serious trouble. Thats because the poison would stick around for days, penetrating the skin and being inhaled by anyone who came close to them or even entered the vicinity.
