Comedian Frank Carson died virtually penniless, according to reports.

The veteran of Saturday night TV in the 80s, who was working right up to his death aged 85 last year, left an estate of just ?8,013.

But after legal costs, expenses and debts were paid off, the figure of the estate was valued as nil.
