EDL leader Robinson held on march

English Defence League leader Tommy Robinson has been arrested on a controversial march that was prevented from going through the centre of one of Britain's biggest Muslim communities.

A tweet on the EDL website stated: "Tommy's been arrested for incitement."

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "A 30-year-old man was arrested for breaching section 14 of the Public Order Act 1986 and inciting others to breach section 14 of the Public Order Act 1986. He has been taken to a central London police station where he currently remains."

The far-right EDL had lost a High Court battle over where they are allowed to demonstrate.

They had wanted to rally in an area in Tower Hamlets, east London, which they say is "subject to Sharia law", but Judge Mr Justice King yesterday ruled that a police decision to impose restrictions over fears of "serious public disorder" was reasonable and proportionate.

By 6pm, 14 people had been arrested but it is thought the numbers could rise.

The Metropolitan Police allowed the protest but under strict conditions which meant any march would be held at the outskirts of the borough and close to Tower Bridge.

They should do the same with the leaders of all the parades celebrating wars that happened hundreds of years ago in Northern Ireland.

            *CONFUSED*

cows grass, grass cows what's the problem?

why 'should' they be not alloud to take a walk on the wild side?

now if they were carring burning stakes and the place is full of hay bails, then fair do's, but why stop them?

Clearly not going to cause trouble, as he would be down the fuzz shop, with no chance of DK.

The difference between here and North Korea is that North Korea can only have marches sanctioned by the state? North Korea doesn't allow everyone internet or mobile phones, whereas here they just constantly monitor peoples internet and mobile phone calls covertly. Not that I agree with EDL but where does the line get drawn, which groups can and can't march? If there was a march against the Coalition would it be ok to ban that?

I agree with Gaston. Some of the parades you see can't do anything but cause friction amongst communities. We're lucky enough to have a so called democracy where we can vote in our so called leaders. If only everyone exercised their right to vote in those that do the best for the country instead of sitting on their arses moaning there wouldn't be a need for the majority of marches. Sadly it's the minority of nutters that tend to like being heard that cause the trouble. The politicians know they can do what they want as those they piss off tend not to vote.
