Le Vell Rape Trial: Corrie Star Not Guilty

Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell has said he is "delighted" after being found not guilty of child sex abuse charges, including rape.

Mr Le Vell, 48, who was on trial under his real name Michael Turner, breathed out and said "thank you" as the jury's verdict was announced.

He had maintained his innocence throughout and was cleared of 12 child sex offences.

Asked when he would return to Coronation Street, Mr Le Vell replied: "I don't know, I might have a holiday first. I'll have to go and have a chat with my boss."

It was a "strange case of child rape" without any DNA evidence or injuries to the alleged victim, who claimed she had been raped and abused while a young girl, his legal team said.

Mr Le Vell was initially arrested on September 30, 2011, but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) decided not to proceed with the case.

After a review of the evidence following fresh allegations by the girl, he was re-arrested and charged in February 2013.

Mr Le Vell first joined Coronation Street in 1983 and quickly endeared himself to fans, who have followed the trials and tribulations of Kevin, from his days as Brian Tilsley's apprentice mechanic through to his stormy marriage to Sally, played by Sally Dynevor.

He did not appear in any episodes of the soap during the legal proceedings.

Britain's compensation culture is out of control

Mr Le Vell should be compensated for the amount of time he lost working in the episode and those trying to pin people for the sake of compensation should be sent to prison that this kind of fraud is not accepted.

Solicitors firms who have made a fortune from fraudulent charges should now be sent to prison and should be striped from the professional body.

Kalipo you could have convince the (CPS) why did Crown Prosecution Service decided to proceed with the case if there were no concrete evidence 12 child sex offences including rape and not a single convicted on any when a person going to lose his job and resspect on a evidence not supported in a criminal law, (CPS) may have better luck when a person was dead then alive.

I find it hard to believe this even got to court, no blood, no semen, no injury or even DNA. Nothing found on his computer, no person coming forward saying anything bad against him saying he makes them feel uneasy around him. Papers writting about it and not being able to attend your job.
Should rape suspects get anonymity until convicted, I say yes, stupid law needs to change.

what made me sick was SLY news kept putting up her accusation's (in text) and talking as if hey were true, even as the gave the news of his aquittal.

now if he was guilty (as found by 12 of his peers) the judge would have stated his evidence were lies,to escape conviction.
therefore as he was acquitted, her testimony should be seen a lies. not touted as fact by the antipodean twerps mouth pieces.
