i will and have helped people on here fill out questionnaires if they are genuinely ill but please don't bleat to me about poor benefit claimants when i earn less than ?14000 working for the same people that pays their bloody benefit.

i get constantly ridiculed on this forum not only cause of my workplace but because im not too scared to stand up and say how wrong it is to get more money on benefit than those of us in work. i can hold my head high cause ive paid for everything i have with wages. believe me i have several medical conditions that would mean i shouldn't work but i do as i have my pride.

In my area and I expect it the same every where, employers have come down to the minimum wage and then help employees to fill in the tax credit forms to make up there wages.
One local employer mainly employ eu unskilled workers (though there own agency) mainly from Portugal and Poland and Barzilian with portuguese passports and they explain our
tax credits and other benefits ie housing ,child allowance etc .

a lot bleet on about the minimum wage but how many people did apprenticeships and got buttons for that. we also had to do yops or yts.

my sister started as a yts with british airways 25 yrs ago. she now earns more than double what i earn.

If I can put my 2 cents worth in on this issue all I can say is that you are not alone. below is a copy and paste of an email doing the rounds down here. I don't know if it is true or just hate chain mail but it does suit the "mind state" of a lot of our spoon fed population.

There is a reference to religious beliefs in that post above and as I said its a copy and paste from the email rounds. BUT there was a Male on TV last month who was in trouble with the law and in the 20 years he has been in this country he still can not speak our language and refuses to, has raised 10 children, has not worked 1 single day since he has been here and has paid of his house in full. THE LUCKY COUNTRY.

not at all, I expect fair pay for fair work - how can the government make you work for less than what they have prescribed as the legal minimum wage?

I work 7 days a week self employed, prior to this i worked for the same company for 10 years, and when I left, I was told I wont recieve a penny because I left of my own accord, even though I had paid ?120,000 into the system over the 10 years.

I bet it would have been different if ..............................

I can see your point of view, but as I stated in my post it is about the "Mind State" that is occurring here by these emails going around generating MOB mentality. I do not believe in racism because I have always believed that not a single person on this planet got to choose who conceived them, no say in your skin colour, physical disabilities or what Country you where born in nor your religion that your family raised you within. But the way we conduct ourselves in every day life we have total control over.

If it is just a hate chain mail which is most likely the case, it is directed towards the "Benefit Cheats" which is what this discussion is all about and that is why I shared it with you unmodified.

These $$$ values in the email are correct. Trust me they are correct.
What is pi$$ing people off here in my country is that many people that abuse the system have an equal or better quality of life than some one who puts in 40 hour per week plus travel and pays taxes.

I don't know about your countries welfare system and where your system draws the line at what is a "necessity of life" and what is a "want in my life". Here if your car breaks down and you are on the Doll you can go to your Mechanic and get a quote for repairs and then the Government Doll Office will make out the cheque to the repairer and then deduct $20 to $50 of your weekly doll cheque until you pay it back.

When I left school many many decades ago, I was unable to get a job for 10 months and received Government financial support. I did not sit on my bum and abuse the money, I used it to get around to find a job. ****Pre Internet days when you had to get out of bed early and get the paper in the morning****

My point is that there is always bad examples in every society who abuse social welfare. The worst part about this mentality is that it makes even harder for the genuine person who is down on their luck like me 30 years ago or born in to this life style and is trying hard to have a go at life.

not sure how much the estimated figure lost to benefit fraud is but according to "accountancy expert" richard murphy unpaid or avoided tax is running at 95 billion. peanuts to the torries i suppose.

Right wing parties generally have nothing more to say than blame everyone else. Problems at home, blame the 'foreigners', have a war etc, just deflect attention away from problems at home *shrug*

The estimate for the percentage of total benefit expenditure overpaid due to fraud in 2011/12 is 0.7%, which is a decrease when compared to the 2009/10 and 2010/11 estimates of 0.8%. The overpaid value in 2011/12 is ?1.2bn which is the same as the 2010/11 estimate. In 2009/10 it was ?1.1bn
Which roughly equates to 1/5th of the amount of the budget which is spent by DWP on administration, which is ?5.6 billion a year (maybe they have more managers than the NHS?). Again you wonder whether they want to spend ?2 billion on catching those fraudulently claiming ?1.2 billion, because at the end of the day they should, but if it costs more than the loss then it's unlikely they'll bother.

Mind you that will be twisted whichever way it goes, so it should be taken with a pinch of salt, or maybe "pinch" is the wrong word to use
