    Dead boy's mother 'claimed benefit'

A mother who left her four-year-old son's body to mummify in her bedroom after he starved to death continued to claim child benefit for the youngster, a jury has heard.

Hamzah Khan's body was found when police went into Amanda Hutton's house in Bradford, West Yorkshire, almost two years after he died.

His mummified corpse was discovered with a teddy in a travel cot in his mother's bedroom in a house filled with rotting rubbish and faeces.

Prosecutors told a jury trying Hutton for manslaughter that the 43-year-old did nothing to alert the emergency services about her son's plight and even ordered pizza within hours of his death.

So many very similar stories we have all read before, usually when a child under 5 years old have immunisation every 3 months why they did not contacted social services when they never heard from parents and usually father is not allowed to see his child when a women has told social services that father was abusing the child.
Come to think about this new benefit law if she was taking money by fraud is she getting 10 years prison on top of murder??

interesting that Benefit fraud is the headline, not the fact the child is murdered.
so which exactly is the worse crime?

Honestly, if you murdered someone (a child and wished to get away with it) would you cancel the payments?

          as for the case directly:
its appalling and something we see all too often.
          I also echo Meat-Heads comment.

If it proper broke, use it for something else!

She was mentally unstable to murder but was she unstable to claim child benefit? If I was the judge I will put her down in prison for life till dead.

Hamzah Khan's Father 'Warned Of Neglect' in court today.

He told officers his son was undernourished and neglected and threatened to contact social services, warning: "Believe me, I'm going to get in touch ... because it's gone so far now."

He also described how Hutton refused to let him take Hamzah to see a doctor, despite telling her "time and time again" he was not well.

This young boy life was in the balance when couple were separated what did this young boy did wrong to die this way, usually child belongs to the mother and what ever decision she took she will regret rest of her life, imagine there are thousands of parents out there can not have children and she was the lucky one.

Probably because this government has put great effort into demonising those on benefits so much that benefit claiming is considered a worse crime than the murder itself.
