    Labour Manifesto

Is it me or is Ed Milliband losing the plot and screwing it up for his supporters. Some of his policies he came out with at his conference must have been thought up by clowns.

He promised to freeze fuel bills for a short period but never explained what was to stop them increasing them before hand or after. He also said he'd force them to be carbon neutral which takes investment. As a lay man all that would happen is the companies will still make the same profit just reduce the money they invest whilst the freeze is on and lay off workers.

He also talked about foreigners coming and taking jobs as we never had the skilled workforce and said "he'd force any company that goes for government contracts to take on an apprentice for every job." He forgets we're part of the EU so must make the same apprenticeships available to all EU member states. Last time I looked they were foreigners.

He talked about the Conservative race to the bottom as they tried to match foreign low wages and work conditions. He'd increase the minimum wage to have a race to the top. So by increasing wages won't the manufacturers have to increase their prices to make up the short fall. Again call me old fashioned but won't that make foreign goods and prices even more attractive so lose us business and make companies move overseas.

He even said he's hit the big companies for Capital gains tax and give the small companies tax breaks. No figures were given though. I'd like to know how much tax he was after from both sides to see how he'll bakance his books or maybe it's a cynical vote grabber. Who knows.

Don't even get me started on Ed Balls; slagging off other parties policies and when pointing out he supported them when Labour was in power he looked like a Rabbit caught in the head lights.

It's the usual say anything crap that you can sort of squirm out of later by saying that isn't what you meant - to get elected that all MP's come out with.

Unlike the Tories who are busy making sure bankers can get even more money again......

The UK Treasury has launched a legal challenge against European Union (EU) plans to cap bankers' bonuses.
It would limit the bonus to no more than a banker's salary, although if shareholders agree it could be higher.
The bonus culture has been blamed for encouraging excessive risk-taking among bankers.

He is the most desperate clown of a politician i think i have ever seen, cap fuel bills what a great idea

So if Russia decide to put a couple of pence on a KWH they all go bust, I dont even think they make much money from the customer to be fair it amounts to about ?60 per household average a year

They then want the energy companies to pay for new green bollox and supplement the feed in tarriffs.

Why not do something useful like cut VAT and put the excess on import VAT making foriegn goods a tad dearer and British goods more affordable

First class clown my shares in centrica nosedived today

The only difficulty that I have with this is that the CEGB used to do very well for itself, as did British Gas, before Sid got his hands on it. I'm too young to have had a gas or electricity bill back then, however I don't recall. Anyone on here recall whether prices rose like they did today, even when the wholesale price is falling?

Not that it seems to matter really since the 'market' price for wholesale gas and oil is as as fixed as they come with EDF extracting gas and then selling it to itself via the 'market' - doesn't hurt for them to inflate the 'market' price they 'sell' to their consumer side of things does it really when you think about it? Seems like a good idea, perhaps they should just come out and say "Wholesale prices have risen, because we put the price up, so the consumer has to pay more". Same for oil companies, what better way for BP to make more money than extract the oil, inflate the 'market' price, "sell it" to it's refining arm who then sell it on again to it's garages.... simply put the higher the market price for crude oil or gas the better it is for them all and the worse the deal becomes for consumers.

Anywhere else it would be considered price fixing.
