    Tackling slavery 'priority' for May

Tackling modern slavery in Britain is a "personal priority", the Home Secretary has said following the discovery of three women allegedly held as slaves for at least 30 years.

A man and women, both 67, have been released on bail after being arrested on Thursday morning in connection with the investigation into slavery and domestic servitude.

Writing in the Sunday Telegraph, Mrs May said the "one positive" of the case was that more people were aware of the issue of slavery which still has "shocking presence in modern Britain".

The couple bailed to a date in January are of Indian and Tanzanian origin and came to the UK in the 1960s, police said.

All three alleged victims - a 30-year-old British woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 69-year-old Malaysian woman - were believed to have suffered "emotional and physical abuse", Metropolitan police commander Steve Rodhouse said.

That would be a priority above sorting the rest of the high priority stuff out - because it's been in the newspapers then.

Rest of the country can go to the dogs, but she has slavery as her No.1 priority, that's all ok then. She needs to hope the slavers don't name themselves Abu Qatada, otherwise she'll need smaller shoes to fit so many feet in her in her mouth (tho there are rumors )

Yes,you go on pet and make slavery your main concern,im sure everyone will be over the moon with that decision, but when you've put that right would you mind ever so getting back to the rest of your trifling responsibilities such as stopping madmen killing our soldiers on our streets, tackling our serious immigration problems and you know that other thing, whats it called again,im sure we had some at some point,oh yes, national security, thats it,and then when you've done that my dad might just feel a bit better about popping down to the shops after four when its a bit dark you know, thankyou ever so much....

Maybe she should start by looking into the DWP's behaviour.

Sending the unemployed out to Poundstretcher to work full time hours, but not get paid for the hours they work. Have they not heard of employment law?

I suppose we could give may and her department a helping hand so if anyone has heard about any possible slavery going on in their area could you please give her a call.Mrs grumbles does tend to keep me indoors more than I would prefer during pub hours and I have been known to drag the ironing board out a ndspend a few frustrating hours re-arranging some creases but to be fair to the woman I could hardly call it slavery....
