UK doors open to eastern immigrants

The first Romanians and Bulgarians with unrestricted access to the UK labour market have begun to arrive despite last-ditch efforts to prevent a feared wave of fresh immigration.

Romanians landing at Luton Airport were greeted by Home Affairs Select Committee chairman Keith Vaz, who said that those arriving today provided just a "snapshot" of those expected to come to the country over the coming months.

Well I'd be shocked if Romanians never got off a Romanian plane to be honest. Can you imagine what Spain must think when during the summer all the planes form the UK are full of people from teh UK landing in their country? it's an invasion *shrug*

No idea, but people keep saying they are coming over to take all the jobs.

The one thing that worries me about the new wave of immigration is the effect on the low paid workers who are trying to keep there
head above water when all the poles etc came over rates for the lower paid skilled workers in the building trade went from ?15 ph to ?10
in a year, but do to pressure on rented housing there rents went up nearly ?100 a month.
It will only help the ones who do not want to work they will just say cant get a job Romanians have took all the jobs and it will help bad employers
who will put wages down and if workers complain will be told to claim tax credits etc

think you will find most of the planes going to Spain are mostly holiday makers spending money in Spain (getting pissed) *shrug*

More likely de-construction engineers flying out to see how they might dismantle the empty houses and ship them to the Uk to house the Spanish coming here for Jobs
Next they will fly to Romania and Bulgaria to de-construct the houses there!

**Idea** make the foreignieers bring their houses with them before they can claim benefits after all we need the house more than the workers

And if you look at it from the governments point of view

                  1) Competition in the wages market (lower wages) will increase profits for companies and make them more competitive
                  2) Increased demand for housing will drive up house prices and make property companies, landlords, builders, banks and estate agents more money

So where's the loss for the government in the eyes of the likes of the CBI?

Most of the people on that plan that landed, if you read the article, already lived and worked here. I'd have thought that the dole office at Dover and teh local hospitals and councils would be under siege by now if the government and UKIP were to be believed

20 years ago I was a migrant worker in the U.K. , I was stereotyped and received many vocal attacks about my heritage and nationality........I worked extremely hard and never received any benefits EVER!! I lived in London for five years and Southhampton for two............... I would like to think I brought some well needed technical skills to the UK and that I contributed to the economy in a positive manner..............I do however believe a vetting process is still needed...........and no benefits until you have worked for at least 18 months.....if you have a job here for you then by all means welcome!

Whilst I was on holiday last year or the year before, I remember talking to a lovely young girl from Romania who worked in Majorca as part of the "entertainment team". She was great, spoke 4 or 5 languages fluently, worked an almost 13 hours a day for 6 days a week, and was extremely pleasant and well spoken. I could not understand why we would want to stop people like her coming to our country.

The ones who are here to theive, scam and rip us off where here before the border rules changed.
