A consultation is taking place over proposals to introduce a 60mph speed limit on a stretch of the M1 in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
The Highways Agency is proposing to implement a maximum mandatory speed limit of 60mph between junction 28 at Mansfield and junction 35a at Sheffield and Rotherham.
The new restriction would apply from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week, in a bid to cut air pollution.

Meaty is right about the emissions not really being material between 60 and 70 mph. I dare say this will be enforced by those oh so nice motorist milking money making machines they are so fond of. Soon pay for itself and drive people off the M1 onto the A1 where we can tear along at any speed we wish.
