Get rid of the water and then we'll sack you

Job cuts at the Environment Agency have been put on hold while it deals with the floods crisis in England. The quango said it still intended to press ahead with long-term plans to cut its workforce by about 1,550.
But it said discussions with staff who might be affected would be delayed until "current flooding has subsided". Labour has claimed the jobs of 550 flooding specialists are at risk from the shake-up but the Agency said this was not currently being considered.

The Agency has been criticised for its performance in recent weeks and for its past policy on river dredging in Somerset, one of the worst-affected areas. But its chairman Lord Smith, whose own position has come under pressure, has praised the dedication and professionalism of its frontline staff, many of whom have been working non-stop since the start of December.

BBC News - UK floods: Environment Agency job cuts 'on hold'

What an effing incentive to drain the water away etc... once it's gone we'll get rid of you instead. All heart eh. I look forward to next years bout of flooding once they have got rid of the staff. Run to the hills

Think they want to get rid of the top heavy head office staff they have proved they are not up to it
Get rid of Smith he was no good as a Labour minster got sent to the lords then Labour gave him a
job in charge of the environment agency. When he got there all he was worried about was the wildlife
and jobs in the office for the greene boys
this is all the greenees on agency are interested in

It never turns out that way though does it, those at the top will either stay or great very good payoffs. I recall we had discussions with a rival of ours who wanted to buy us out - their only promise was "We'll make sure you senior managers are all ok"..... since it was us they had to convince. Showed them the door and told them not to bother to contact us again. Goes to show at the end of the day it's the managers who will be looked after in that sort of situation, frontline staff don't stand a chance. Us and them still exists in work and those that can will look after themselves while sacrificing anyone who might get in the way without battering an eyelid.

They will sack the useful ones shortly and hold out themselves for a golden handshake!!
Why is it whenever there is a watchdog that finds a company cheated everybody that they get fines? How does that help the victims? The money just get put in govt coffers for the establishment to take the culprits out on a expenses lunch to plan the next raid on the public!

IMO If the two houses of Govt were say a toaster then I'd get my money back as the goods wouldn't be fit for purpose

as for fines, for contaminated goods, why not say you have to spend ?10k on new machines or ?15k on a gine ishit fine
