    Arrest warning for internet trolls

Culture Secretary Maria Miller has warned internet trolls to expect arrest if they threaten or insult people on line.

I n a speech to the Oxford Media Convention, the Cabinet minister said there was a "straightforward principle" that "the rules that apply offline are the same rules that apply online".

She said: " The internet isn't a 'Second Life', it isn't something where different rules apply, where different behaviour is acceptable - it isn't the wild west."

In her speech, about the "r ights and responsibilities of the internet age", she said: " Whether it is images of child abuse or terrorist material we will use the full force of the law, national and international, to take down that content and pursue the perpetrators.

"If you vilely insulted, or threatened to attack someone in person on the street, you do so expecting to be arrested and charged. The same already applies on social media."

Referring to the recent jailing of a man and a woman who subjected feminist campaigner Caroline Criado-Perez to online abuse, Ms Miller said that " being online does not mean the law doesn't apply to you. And the law is being used. Last year 2000 people were prosecuted for sending electronic communications that were grossly offensive or menacing."

Well it won't be a life that includes nightlife and being paid for services, except perhaps as an ugly sister in a pantomime
does that mean she'll get me now? Was that a vile insult, or something close to the truth? TBH I'd probably say it to her in the street anyway. I'll let you know if I end up in court

That would be this Maria Miller?

In December 2012 it was reported that, between 2005 and 2009, Miller had claimed over ?90,000 in parliamentary expenses for the mortgage and upkeep of a house in south London where her parents lived.

Her parents lived with her as "dependents" under Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority rules.

And there was me thinking my kids were my dependents (when they were under 18)not the other way around, weird how the world gets twisted by those who can doesn't it? I'll ask my kids to claim me as a dependent and see if they get any extra tax allowances, pointing to Mrs Miller and her parents as an example. Never know they may be able to get council tax back as well.... yeah right

          Back on topic then.

Meaty is also right. If I said she was ugly would that be an insult or my opinion? If others thought her ugly as well does that mean it's no longer just my opinion and therefore not an insult but the truth? Just a theoretical question I hasten to add Unenforceable laws are great aren't they complete waste of cking time.

Do you know our govt is getting to be a communist country only the fools are voting for the same govt for the past 100 years including me, what is the democratic way of voting and has it benefited the community???

From the time you step our of your house you have committed an offence, smoking, accidentally pressed the horn on your car, our children have more rights to tell parents then the parents them self, I could go on and on, we have come to a stage when more people are sent to prison, and now they can not get the job because being in prison they are criminal, we do not need new law!!!

The question is how can we go back to good old days when people had more rights?

The dozy cow is trying to get more business for her solicitor husband because claiming expenses for the mortgage and upkeep of her parents home has become a bit dodgy.
PS. GastonJ, we can bounce of the walls at Rampton at the same time.
