    For the benefit of customers

The price of a first-class stamp is to increase by 2p to 62p while a second-class stamp will go up 3p to 53p, Royal Mail has announced.
Also from 31 March, a large letter first-class stamp up to 100g will rise by 3p to 93p and a large letter second-class stamp will increase by 4p to 73p. Despite the increases, Royal Mail insisted its prices were "amongst the best value for money in Europe".

BBC News - Royal Mail to raise stamp prices

It's good to see that after being privatise that the new 'owners' are looking to make a fast buck out of people with that monopoly they bought for next to nothing

Seeing as it has been privatised should it really still be able to be called "Royal" Mail ? What is the Royal connection now ? Surely the Queen isn't a major share holder.

The only connection I can think of with "Royal" and the Queen now is that they're making as much money as they can which bears the head of the queen *shrug*

I read about the job cuts today, I read a few years ago about TNT testing running a mail delivery service to home & businesses, so they might step in when the mail service here goes down the Suwannee.

The Royal Mail is just suffering the same fate as any other Company competing against Market Forces. The fact that the Government gave the Royal Mail contracts for ten years effectively keeping them in profit shows how much shi@ the Royal Mail is in. Once those contracts come up for again and other Private Companies can bid for them watch the Royal Mail implode and get bought out by one of the other Major Companies like DHL.

Well it 'doesn't' matter as long as when a DK member posts a can of grey poundland paint to a moderator or a set of ?2.99 jump leads to a fellow dk member it don't cost ?3.50 to post them, and wants to arrive next day.

will it be like trains, differant tickets and prices for 'one' long haul trip
