    Terrorism Charges

A 20-year-old student from Birmingham has been charged with terrorism offences related to the conflict in Syria.
Mouloud Tahari, from Ashway in Sparkhill, will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday accused of facilitating terrorism overseas.
Former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg and Mr Tahari's mother Gerrie Tahari, appeared at court on Saturday charged with terrorism offences.
    Both were remanded in custody.
Mr Begg, 45, from Hall Green, Birmingham, is accused of providing instruction or training for terrorism in Syria and facilitating terrorism overseas.
Gerrie Tahari, 44, of Sparkbrook, Birmingham, is charged with facilitating terrorism overseas.
All three suspects were arrested by detectives from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit on Tuesday.

Would that be providing instruction or training for terrorism in Syria for the government of Syria or the rebels? Has the UK government now decided that the rebels they have been supporting are terrorists instead? I find it a rather strange turn of events to say the least. Although obviously one mans freedom fighter is another man's terrorist it just seems a very odd thing to be charged with when the UK government has been backing the rebels for so long. I guess we'll have to wait for the details of the trial.

On a serious note, I'm more interested which side he was helping and is being charged for. This government tried to involve the UK armed forces in the conflict on the side of the rebels. Now if it turns out he is being charged because he helped the rebels doesn't that just smack of double standards? and if the government had sent in the UK armed forces on the same side as him would they also be charged?

The question is why these young lads and some people going abroad fighting in Syria when they are not citizen of that country?? They are rebels either taking ???? from some one to do the job or they are terrorist and they should be charged and put behind bars for long time. All killings got to stop, people will have to be educated.

Yes you are right SJ, people shouldn't be out there. It's how the government justify someone ending up in court on terrorism charges, if they were helping the 'side' that the government were trying to help. Not that I agree with it, but it smacks of one law for the government and a different law for everyone else on the face of it. I know there'll be more to it than that, and I certainly don't support anyone wandering off and fighting/killing everyone else, but in reality he could have been busy killing people in Syria with weapons supplied by the US or EU (including the UK). Probably just another example of the double standards that the 'west' have I dare say.

GastonJ you are 100% right, but you are forgetting some thing, from 19th Century Europeans were missionary colonizing Africa Asia and the middle east, we were the getting all the minerals, this is 21st century all manufacturing business to expensive to run and have come to a stop, were is the money going to come from? Another way of colonising is by engaging in wars, sales of arms rocketed, we are getting back on our feet, keep talking about the terrorists and all will be ok.
Those young lads and people need to be educated we should never ever engage in any killings.
