    Migrants 'have cost UK ?140bn'

    Migrants 'have cost UK ?140bn'

    Press Association – Thu, Mar 13, 2014

    • Press Association - Migration Watch claims immigration has cost the UK, rather than delivered benefits

Immigrants have cost UK taxpayers more than ?22 million a day for 17 years, a report has claimed.
Migration Watch UK research claims that the public purse was ?140 billion worse off between 1995 and 2011 as a result of people moving to Britain.
It follows work by the Centre for Research and ****ysis of Migration (Cream), an independent research unit at University College London, last year that showed immigrants had made a "substantial" contribution to public finances since 2000 and those from the European Economic Area had contributed 34% more in taxes than they received in benefits in the decade up to 2011.
Migration Watch UK said it had followed the methodology used by Cream but had changed what it called the "unrealistic assumptions" that had been made in that study, such as suggestions that EEA migrants are only half as likely to claim benefits or tax credits - something it claimed was "highly misleading".
Its report states that findings about the contributions made by EEA migrants are "simply wrong" and rely "on assumptions that employees earn the same as the UK-born population".
"In fact, on less unreasonable assumptions, there was no positive fiscal impact at all from the recent EEA migrant group singled out... for their 'very positive contribution'," it states. "Indeed, migration to the UK continues to have a significant fiscal cost, and recent migrants made no difference to the upward trend."
Cream has strenuously dismissed the claims, insisting the think tank's work is "based on a serious misinterpretation of the methodology we have used in our work, which leads to fundamental mistakes that invalidate their calculations".
Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migration Watch UK, said: "Our report finally disposes of the immigration lobby's oft-repeated claims that immigration reduces our tax burden.
"The total cost is high and increased dramatically between 1995 and 2011, providing no compensation for the overcrowding of this island which we are experiencing, largely as a result of immigration."

Funny how the experts can't agree the positive or negative benefits of migration and EU membership "give or take the odd ?200 billion" if I go over my budget by a fiver the wifi gives me good slapping
Why haven't the major papers picked up this article?

Which immigrant got the money and do they have receipts? Usual sh*t to try justify the means and end. Propaganda without real evidence at it's best.

Despite the cost of living, it's still very popular.

Totally agree about it being propaganda without real evidence at it's best, but it is only opposing the exact type of information from the other side of the arguement.
Nobody in positions of authority want the truth revealed because either way it will damage their own position and standing.

So how many car washers did we have before? If the answer is very few and we have more now doesn't that indicate that they saw an opportunity to make money while everyone else ignored it and decided to moan either because they couldn't be bothered or just wanted to moan about it. Boy scouts used to wash cars for a lot less than a fiver, so they haven't been undercut, perhaps they can't be bothered?

Because although Migration Watch UK claims to be non-political, it's widely acknowledged to be a Right Wing anti-immigration pressure group.

Even the "Daily Mail" steers clear of obvious bullshit. (most of the time)
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

A local company employs manly Portuguese and Polish and Brazilian ( they come on portuguese passports) it advise the married workers how to get the best out of the UK benefits system.
Like work a part time week and get help with your rent and money for the children, and apply for children allowance , The pay for the workers has gone down from half decent to just above
the minimum wage ,since they started hiring from the EU.

you mean for the last few hundred years that Birtish people have always declared their full income? You obviously have proof of your doubts then..... from a mate who goes down the pub, his girfriends, cousins, sisters, boyfriends uncle works at the dole and told you?

140 Billion is peanuts compared to Tory borrowing of 430 + Billion in 3 years when all the the cuts have been going on who got the money he borrowed certainly not the Taxpayer.
