    Only half resigned?

Conservative MP Mark Menzies has quit his post as a ministerial aide after newspapers reported allegations by a Brazilian male escort.
He resigned as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to International Development Minister Alan Duncan after an investigation by the Sunday Mirror.
The MP for Fylde in Lancashire said a number of the claims were "untrue" and he would set the record straight.
The chair of his constituency party said Mr Menzies had its full support.
In a statement, Mr Menzies said: "I have decided to resign as a PPS after a series of allegations were made against me in a Sunday newspaper.

"A number of these allegations are not true and I look forward to setting the record straight in due course."

So only some of them are not true, which means some of them are true. Bet the Tory party are hoping this story dies quite quickly, they can't afford to lose MP's. If he's having to resign shouldn't he be resigning as the representative of his constituency as well? I can't think of any other job where you can resign from part of it.

It's the part where he says only some of them are not true that makes me laugh - surely that should be all of them, or are some of the allegations acceptable? Wonder which ones are true and acceptable in public office.

I'm probably missing something but if the guy is a turd burglar and doing his deeds in his own time what is the problem. As long as he does his job to a level that keeps his voters happy crack on. After all Labour and the Conservatives have been shafting us for years and we pay for it.

I don't think the resignation is anything to do with being gay. The use of a rent boy is illegal though (Prostitution...paying for sex or whatever is still a crime in this country). Also if the part about guided tours of parliament is probably an abuse of privilege. Oh and the little matter of drug use ect. Plenty of reasons in the story to make resignation appropriate. IMHO he should also resign his seat and a by election called. MP's really do get away with the most bizarre stuff imho. Look at that Eric Joyce guy too - it was only after his second stint in the cells that HE decided to stand down when his seat comes up for re-election....so he still managed to stay in his job for a good year or more even after he said he had brought shame to the post.....there are plenty of others too. Yet if they had been working for say Tesco or something and a story hit the papers with the likes of this...they would be out on their ear before the second edition of the paper was printed ffs.

Never said it was anything to do with him being gay - it was the "some of them are not true" part which made me laugh. Truth is the government can't afford to lose any MP's. Any that don't stand for re-election are making sure they get their free pension......
