Another one gets away with it

Culture Secretary Maria Miller has apologised to MPs for her attitude towards an inquiry into her expenses.
The Commons Committee on Standards ordered her to repay ?5,800 to cover over-claiming of mortgage expenses after she failed to cut her claims as interest rates fell.
It cleared her of making false expenses claims, but said her submission of "incomplete" evidence to the inquiry had breached the MPs' code of conduct.
The MP said the matter was now over.
She said she "fully" accepted the committee's conclusions and apologised "unreservedly" to the House of Commons.

If that was anyone in a real job they'd have been sacked and out on their rear ends. I know a director who lost a ?100k a year job for over claiming ?58 in expenses for a hotel stay, cupid stunt that he was.

Just goes to show how untrustworthy MP's are, how much they are "in it for themselves and personal gain" and how they stick together to save themselves from being kicked out. So what do MP's have to do to get sacked, murder someone on live TV?

Perhaps she doesn't want to come out of the closet or maybe has too many skeletons in the closet

She should have been sacked and given a long prison sentence for fraud.
Oh, but it's alright, she's said sorry for a "clerical error", so just forget about it, normal business resumes.

Nick Leeson should appeal for his clerical error as well.

              Turns out:

The commissioner had found that she over-claimed by ?45,000 for expenses towards mortgage interest payments and council tax.. But the committee, which comprises five Conservative MPs, four Labour MPs, one Lib Dem MP and three members of the public, decided that she needed to pay back just ?5,800.
Nothing like helping each other out eh.

                and there's more:

Culture Secretary Maria Miller has said she is "devastated" that she has let her constituents down, amid growing pressure on her to resign.
She told her local newspaper that the 16-month inquiry into her expenses had been "difficult" but she accepted its findings in full and had apologised.
David Cameron has backed Mrs Miller but Tory MPs say the row is damaging.
And former Commons Speaker Baroness Boothroyd has said Mrs Miller should resign as a matter of "honour".

BBC News - Maria Miller 'devastated' by expenses row

If there was any honour she'd not only resign as culture secretary, she'd resign as an MP as well not waiting for an election, after all it was as an MP she claimed the expenses not as culture secretary. Though she won't....

MP's rely on one thing, it doesn't matter what they do you will elect 650 them at election time no matter what happens. It's a nice little earner knowing that you won't lose your job no matter what you do, and you'll get a freebie pension at the end of it all if you do 'lose your job' by not being elected.

                    She's gone now, resigned today.
She should have been sacked and a police enquiry initiated. She is a thief and a fraud.

                      No, she's not gone

She is still an MP, so has a nice wage and to add insult to that she's entitled to ?17k severance pay. Will still be an MP until she loses at an election and when that happens will get paid more to 'adjust' and get a pension for life.

I must go try that at work and see how much they pay me *shrug*

and another one on it's merry way:

Conservative MP Peter Bone is under investigation for expenses claims relating to the upkeep of his second home, the parliamentary commissioner for standards has said.
The claims are understood to have been made between 2005 and 2009.

BBC News - Conservative MP Peter Bone faces expenses inquiry

MP for Wellingborough told the Times he had "done nothing wrong", adding that it was "not unusual for MPs to have their expenses challenged".
How many times has that been said?
