    Propaganda?

Microsoft have a headquarters in Dublin so this must be the most one sided news article when you consider all the alternatives to windows.

Dig more money out of people and company time. I just wonder, when people do decide to move of XP, how many will either a) Pirate Windows 7 or 8, b) Make the move to Linux/BSD and the world of open source software. In both cases MS lose, not that I care since I have no shares, but it's one way to lose your user base and income. Even if 10% move to OSS it's a step in the right direction

CCS paid ?5.5m to keep XP for another year. Now it's just a matter of finding someone who works in the public sector to release the updates. I'd watch out for 'fake' updates claiming to be from the public sector though and make sure your source is trustworthy if you rely on your computer

Ah I'm sure there'll be a sting in the tail. The ?5.5 million deal will be support for XP with strings attached no doubt something like having to buy 2 million copes of Windows 8 and 2 million copies of Office 2013 for the 750,000 computers that they have at double the retail cost..... stupid, stupid, stupid

As for Billies good causes, they'd be American good causes, benefiting Americans *shrug*

Microsoft will make the money by introducing new hardware that won't work on the old operating systems making the public buy new computers once their hardware starts failing as the old stuff will no longer be produced.

My brother in law rang me last week to ask me to find him a new laptop because the one he has now has told him that Micro$hite XP is expiring and he will get loads of viruses from last Tuesday so he thought it wasn't safe to use any more.

He is not dumb, he is just a user of computers that has no interest in them at all, just wants one to do what he has to do for his normal days work as a market stall owner. He has no reasons to not believe what Windo$e tells him and so truly believed he had to do it to continue with emails and stuff.

I pointed out to him that Micro$hite stopping supporting XP merely meant that the bugs it had now would stay as they are and they wouldn't stick any more on it so probably a good thing that they are going to leave his computer alone. He went away happy.

The world will wake up eventually to the alternatives and the truly poor way that Windo$e uses the hardware you have.

The world ended a while ago, just those with XP are 6 years behind and haven't realised yet

Windows XP has been the most successful in the 21st centuries, the latest technology on win 7 and win 8 was meant for touch screen monitors and most software still not compatible to work.

Not really, it was meant to make MS a profit, and that's it's only purpose for existing, same for Windows 7 and Windows 8. Ask MS.
