It is propaganda. I dare say some MP's have bought some shares in Dunlop and aren't seeing enough of a profit. As for the police - They must be hitting the fines targets then. ?100 a pop against 1/4 of 23 million tyres is just under ?600,000,000 in fines. That'll be sorely missed if people 'get legal' - not that they shouldn't be legal anyway, no excuse for poor maintenance. There was me thinking that it wasn't about the money or the fines -t's not about punishment, it's about education....

Supouse if their having a slow day they could knock up a few pairs of non substandard tyres back at the office
Gj sure your community police officer can help- "Neighbourhood Policing is our approach to fighting crime, addressing community safety issues, tackling anti-social behaviour and reassuring our communities." after all it would be criminal, anti social and a safety issue if your tyres wore out
