Have an eBay account? You need to change your password right now

Ebay is asking all of its users to change their passwords after a cyberattack compromised one of its databases, resulting in user information being stolen from the site.

The database, which was compromised between late February and early March, included eBay customers? names, encrypted password, email address, physical address, phone number and date of birth.

However, the database did not contain financial information or other confidential personal information nor was there any evidence of unauthorised access or compromises to financial or credit card information.

The company said the compromised database was first detected about two weeks ago and
is currently investigating the situation with law enforcement and security experts.

It said the hackers compromised a small number of employee log-in credentials, allowing them unauthorised access to eBay?s corporate network.

In a statement on its PayPal Forward site, the company says that ?extensive forensic research has shown no evidence of unauthorised access or compromise to personal or financial information for PayPal customers.?

Despite this, it has also recommended users who use the same password on other sites to change them as well.

ebay take THREE MONTHS to reveal cyber attack?
HOW is eBay asking its customers to change their passwords?
No email sent out from fleaBay.
No message on the feeBay website.
Login was no problem, no error message telling me to change.
So what, instead of taking any action, they just ask the media to report the story and users will find out that way?
      Ebay and Paypal are ripoff!!!!

Sadly mine is not one off the affected ones, as I'm still got lots of stolen car parts around me.

I know people still tell us that we never had an issue with ebay & paypal you will never know when it happens to you it may be too late, give them your reserve account to draw and you can only use one computer all the time to deal with them, try and shut an account with either of them and see what happens.

God forbid paypal create a 'reserve' on your account, try and get that money back. And if either of them decide to set 'limitations' on your accounts, and for no valid reason; you will probably never see your money back.

Over 100,000 law suits pending against paypal for malpractice in the US alone. don't sign up with them in the first place. I wish I hadn't.

PayPal are ok 99.9 % of time.

due to dk rules about commercial activities, all can say is, somebody screwed up and charged mhm extra on a waffle valve for a Lada, we complained to PayPal, hit FULL refund, then made a killing in the part.

              Ah 99.9%
Just been told my friend went through Ebay to change the password, it said they would receive a email within about 5 mins, it never came, so they decided to close the account, it says it takes up to 180 days for it to finally close.
You are now waiting 180 days for account to close your guess is good as mine @ 99.9%.

I had to change my password yesterday. Pi$$ed me right off. Had three choices, by text, email or phone call. So I chose by text. Would it **** go through! Kept telling me to select the number or add a new one. I had selected the correct and only number and there wasn't an option to add another number.
So I clicked email, which I recieved pretty much straight away. But when I clicked the link to reset my password it told me the link was expired.
