Parents To Be Punished For Kids' Bad Behaviour

Parents have been warned by Education Secretary Michael Gove they will face punishments for failing to ensure their children arrive at school "ready to learn and showing respect for their teacher".

Mr Gove has vowed to raise school standards "higher than ever before" as he set out an uncompromising vision to get rid of what he believes is a culture of low expectations.

In a speech to the Policy Exchange think tank, Mr Gove insisted mothers and fathers have to take responsibility for their children's behaviour or face sanctions.

He also hit out at teachers who "set children up to fail" by refusing to think they might be intellectually curious or capable of greatness.

Mr Gove said: "We need to ensure that those parents who don't play their part in ensuring their children attend school, ready to learn and showing respect for their teacher, face up to their responsibilities.

"We will, later this year, be outlining detailed proposals to ensure parents play their full part in guaranteeing good behaviour and outlining stronger sanctions for those who don't."

Sky's Darren McCaffrey said: "One idea Michael Gove is considering is deducting money from child benefit payments from parents who repeatedly refuse to pay fines imposed through persistent truancy.

Great, but kids are not programmed on delivery, there in learn or programme mode, no USB, no ir Bluetooth, serial port, etc.

so their bad programming is from their rents, who were also badly programmed , so for every bad byte if data, the rents needs reprogramming with new data

Respect is something that is earned, otherwise it's not deserved. I'm sure Maggie would have asked people to respect Jimmy Savile - did he deserve it?

Anyway, I'd like the government to explain how do you force someone to be ready to learn? Yet another pathetic attempt by MP's to impose the impossible while doing f'all about those things that actually.

If parents be allowed to take shit out of children there will not be an issue of respect the parents hands are tied up under the children cruelty at the same time our govt asking parents to teach children respect its not going to happen.

Sending them to boarding school will only make them want to become MP's so they can fiddle their expenses and not get any punishment despite getting caught.

Sending them to military school only works if enough MP's vote for the UK to invade another country and then we'll have enough cannon fodder to go die for whatever the government of the day decides they should die for. Ask Dave about Syria, and still no evidence......

The issue was started at school because they drum their rights into them. It's easier to talk crap to them than teach them. The school curriculum is a joke now as we have seen recently. Compared to years ago when it was strict. They realise that if the children become too clever questions will be asked in future about why we allow those in charge to get away with it. A good idea to have lots of claptrap and nonsense bullshit going on in society so that we don't see what's happening and really going on out there. There are kids who need rights as they have poor excuses for parents but thankfully there aren't too many of them. I think all MP's and Bankers and such had bad parents as they assume it's okay to reward failure and not to be held accountable for the misery they cause in society. Years ago it was all older teachers with plenty of life skills you can have all the knowledge you want but if you haven't learned any life skills like the young teachers straight out of university what do you know?

This might get confusing but I'll try to keep it in order...

Those that can, do. Those that can't, teach.
Kids are taught how to pass exams, not use their own heads to problem solve.

My partners youngest has no common sense, yet he's book smart. The school he goes to is strict on behaviour, but not when it comes to the teachers behaviour. Many times he has been accused of doing things he didn't, or he's questioned what is being told to the class. When he does this, he is inevitably correct... But he gets detentions, exclusions, etc. So he is now a target for some teachers, just because he defends his case or corrects them when they're wrong.
One of the teachers hates men and boys. She punishes male students for trivial things while letting the girls get away with murder. It's well documented & has been going on for over over 10 years. Yet nothing is being done by the school to correct her behaviour.
What message is that sending to the kids? It makes no difference if you're right or wrong, you're going to be punished for just opening your mouth. Then they wonder why more students become unruly.

But then some people really shouldn't be allowed to have kids. Scum breeds scum. Those will never have respect for anything, no matter what punishments are dished out. How can you expect a parent that has no respect for anything to be able to teach their scum kids how to respect anything?
