Nigel Farage Caught On Camera Calling For A US-Style Privately Run NHS

Nigel Farage has been caught on camera admitting he wants to replace the NHS with a US-style private insurance health system - in direct contrast to recent views expressed by Ukip.

In footage that has only just come to light, the Eurosceptic party leader was filmed stating that the NHS should be run by private companies and organised under an insurance-based system.

In an awkward turn for Ukip the views aired are noticeably different from those Farage has argued in past months - when he has insisted that he and his party are against privatising the health service and are willing to fight to preserve it.

A policy leaflet distributed in Rochester and Strood ahead of next Thursday?s crucial by-election said: ?Ukip will ensure the NHS is free at the point of delivery and time of need for all UK residents. We will stop further use of PFI [private finance initiatives] in the NHS and encourage local authorities to buy out their PFI contracts early where this is affordable.?

But the video of the Ukip leader, which has only recently emerged from his 2012 Common Sense tour, saw him telling Ukippers that the market could deliver better value for money on health.

?Frankly, I would feel more comfortable that my money would return value if I was able to do that through the marketplace of an insurance company than just us trustingly giving ?100 billion a year to central government and expecting them to organise the healthcare service for us. We?ve doubled expenditure on the NHS in 15 years ? and we haven?t got frankly double the return.?

He's a two faced bassed like the rest. At the end of the day none of the right wing parties want the NHS to stay as it is, their friends companies want to provide a substandard service and make a profit in place of the NHS. The NHS runs for the benefit of the country at no profit while private companies exist to make as much profit as possible.

Would you really trust Wonga Healthcare to put treatment above cost?

It would except....... parts of the NHS are being privately run. Most of the larger computer systems (Patietnt Administration/A&E/Radiologogy) are no longer run by the NHS, they are handed to companies like Capita, Steria and ISoft who make sure when it's time for contract renewal that the NHS Trusts have nowhere else to go, profit for life in that one. One top of that a fair number of the radiology facilities (MRI/Cat Scanners/PET Scanners) are now run by private companies who have contracts with NHS Trusts and are housed in buildings on Trusts sites that were built and fitted out by the NHS. Facilities type services (building maintenance, cleaning, catering) are run by private companies, again with premises on Trust sites. How long before there is nothing left but contracted out services with the costs for those services raised when the companies realise the NHS has nowhere else to go?

I am led to believe that my GP's practice is owned and run by Virgin of all companies.

It's a creeping privatisation. Watch that space.

Can see the logic, but like anything you win some you loose some.

For example this Ebola (why does iShit know its a name!). If nhs you get symptoms your going to get repairs. Insert coin system, spread it around a bit.

DUE TO (iShit Failiure) forgotten rest of what was saying

theres no doubt the gov wants to privatise the nhs, but as gas says it will be done very slowly via the back door.

Email your local MP. You could try emailing Arnold

Emailing and lobbying MP's will have little impact. MP's and those in the lords have interests in most of the companies that want to make a profit on peoples illness. Doesn't really matter what you think of the NHS at the end of the day it is there to treat the sick, any illness, for no profit at all. Companies exist to make money and usually at least 100% on their investment.

As far as I know, at least 179 Westminster MPs have financial interests in private medical companies. So it would be beneficial to their bank balance if the NHS was totally privatised, even if they give the impression they are against it.

A bum deal for the sick, again. We need the right people running nhs trusts with sound business brains, pay the right money and they would jump at the challenge.
