    Working Christmas Day

    About 863,000 people were working on Christmas Day 2012 - 2.9% of the UK's total workforce - according to the most up-to-date figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
    The list of festive workers was led by NHS staff, care workers and police officers.

    "We see that 141,000 doctors, nursing staff and midwives were working on the festive day, as well as 39,000 in the police, fire and ambulance services," said Nick Palmer of the ONS.

    So that just about covers all the groups that our nice kind government have kicked in the effing nuts of late by revising their pensions downwards, making them work longer and refusing to give them a reasonable pay rise, in some cases eff all, while at the same time an announcement form the BOE said that bonuses were up and that pay rises were on the increase, MP's will even get to vote on their 11% ......

      We could always encourage the politicians to work over Christmas and take the rest of the year of if they really want to be public spirited and help the economy!
