The Conservatives will make the case for lower taxes in the upcoming election campaign with "every bone in our body", David Cameron is to say.
In a speech in Hampshire, he will say people "deserve a reward" after years of sacrifice and know better than Whitehall how to spend their money.
But the Lib Dems insist they have been the drivers of tax cuts since 2010.
Treasury Minister Danny Alexander said they had "fought tooth and nail" to cut how much income tax people pay.
The coalition has increased the point at which people start paying income tax - known as the annual personal allowance - from ?6,475 in 2010-2011 to ?10,500 in 2014-15, meaning that all those earning less than ?100,000 now pay no tax on the first ?10,500 of income.
Both the Conservatives and Lib Dems have pledged to lift this threshold to ?12,500 during the next Parliament although the two parties are at odds over who has championed the policy, with both seeking to take the credit.
Either he has ing expensive meals or goes on holiday to the house next door.... Usual "forget how sh*t we've been for the last 5 years tax bribe". I'd sooner they didn't give tax cuts and paid off the debt caused by his ing mates so the country can get back on it's ing feet. Last thing that's needed is tax cuts to get re-elected when all they'll do is take the cash another way. Don't give tax cuts pay teh ing debt off quicker.
