I do feel sorry for all the families who have lost their loved ones, but ultimately these lads have been joining the army knowing full well that there are wars on in Iraq and Afghanistan and knowing that they would most likely be sent to one or both countries. If we want the war to stop, we need to stop our friends and family joining the army and then they would have nobody to send.

Doesn't work like that m8. Some join to go to war, and some join to learn a trade because they cant find one in civvy street. None have a choice to refuse to go to war and all are prepared to go and very few (if any) complain.

There will always be people joining for whatever reasons. I get pissed off because the yanks always call the tune.

i don't think we should get out. if we do then the place will be overrun by the taliban and the country will become a massive training zone for terrorists.

Perhaps we shouldn't have gone there to start with, but that is a different matter. Now we are they we must stay until the job's done. Like I said earlier those who do join up do so knowing full well that they will go to Afghanistan, so the people who go have chosen to go and they know the risks involved.

I did not say that people join up with the intention of dying, nor did I mean that. I mean it exactly like you put it that people know there's a possibility.

well that's what they sign up for. come what may, if asked, a soldiers job is to die. if you join the army and don't know that. you are thick enough to be shot anyway.

unfortunately the world needs wars at the moment ! were every they may be, it stems from Western Country's especially the UK and America's trade and Manafacturing of Arms & Munitions.

You would be very surprised how economically beneficial it is to be at War in the present Economic climate even when Defence speending is as high as it is.

The Jobs created as home in the Arms industry and the numbers inlisted in the Army & Navy not only keep Numbers off the unemployment register but also help the countrys Borrowings from the European Centrail bank & other World Trade due to the GDP figures of young School finishers entering the Armed forces, Even though they are payed from the State at the tax payers expence Armed Forces are considered in the total countrys employment figures & in the GDP of that particular Country.

Meaning the more you have in your Armed Forces rather than on Unemployment benifits or in College' and Universitys around the country the better financially for the country.

So Unfortunately untill there is a Real turn around in the Country economically with real Job groth and Money is worth the paper its printed on again, Western Countrys will continue to be at War ....its been like this since the early 1800 when War Bonds were first introduced and are still traded today, There is big Money for Countrys like the UK & America to conduct a War in some part of the World !

I personaly feel that the Present economic Climate is only a short term fix and with America Printing worthless money to prop up the country without the Manufacturing or services actually generating the value of this fresh new money, We are heading to a Mojor financial meltdown within the next two years, then there will be no money anywhere for War (or there will be a big War) one or the other.

i think they are doing a good job tbh, i joined the army at 16 and i knew what was needed from me. as long as we are there, torrorists will find it hard to repeat 9/11

actualy there is no proof any afghanis, including the taliban, have had anything to do with the 911 attacks.
This war-of-terror was actually pre-planned by the neo-con group in the US, people like wolfowitz and rumsfeld .
In fact rumsfeld was hosting the taliban in the US shortly before for a US pipeline agreement. But the taliban wanted more money than us wanted to pay. google it and see 4 yourself.
