    VW Owners

Nine out of 10 VW diesel owners feel they should receive compensation over the emissions scandal, a consumer group survey suggests.
The survey of 2,033 drivers of these cars by Which? found that 90% of them considered fuel efficiency to be a key factor when buying their car.
Some 90% also thought that environmental impact was important.
VW is reeling from a scandal which saw 1.2 million UK motors, and 11 million globally, fitted with a defeat device.
In the US, this was used to cheat emissions testing.
Letters are being sent to affected drivers in the UK, but this regards potential alterations to the vehicle rather than compensation promises or apologies.
When asked about the potential for compensating customers over lost value to their vehicles, Paul Willis, managing director for Volkswagen's UK operation, told MPs: "I think it is premature to think about that."
Which? executive director Richard Lloyd, said: "Many VW owners tell us they decided to buy their car based on its efficiency and low environmental impact, so it's outrageous that VW are not being clear with their customers about how and when they will be compensated."

I do hope that if any manage to get compensation that they are then invoiced by the DOE for the environmental impact of their cars emissions. At the end fo the day they bought a car based on efficiency and environmental impact. They still have the efficiency and that won't change, so no damage there. If they're claiming compensation for the environmental impact then, since it is everyone in the UK being impacted not just the owner, any such compensation should go to everyone in the UK. Nothing like trying to make money for nothing is there... now where are http://www.shystersforyoulongasitmakesmoneyforme.com when you need them?

The whole thing is a joke. Radical Liberal Eviro groups hate diesel cars. They put unrealistic regulations on them to try to make them so expensive no one would buy one. Atleast this is what the US EPA does. Here in America we let all trucks 9000 lbs and more to skip an emission test. They only get a visual to see if they have pollution devices. They don't need to work. Why they are trying to regulate diesel trucks how many have deleted the DFP and ADblue. I sure 90% have. So instead of questioning VW you should question the radical EPA and their unrealistic goals.

To be honest, I question the whole f**king lot of them. We get taxed to death in the UK over "how polluting our use of energy is", pay f**k knows what in tax - and what does it get used for? Certainly not on anything useful. On top of that what good is it overtaxing everyone in the UK so they use less 'fossil fuel' when the rest of the world doesn't give a flying f**k and uses more anyway.

It's all a con to allow for revenue to be raised on the back of "green taxation" because governments aren't up front and honest about how much tax they actually take and what they spend it on. I pay around ?14k a year in tax and NI from working. On top of that 60% of my yearly car fuel bill is taxed/excise duty (?70 a week on fuel) ?3,640 in fuel a year @ 60% is another ?2184. Energy bills are taxed at 5% so that's another ?60 a year in VAT. Tell me that green taxation isn't a money making exercise......
