Pensioner dies 'months after being bitten 50 times by rat as she slept in council-run care home'

A pensioner died three months after allegedly being bitten more than 50 times by a rat as she slept at a council-run care home.

Pamela Hudson, 75, was found covered in blood and with multiple wounds to her face and arms after apparently being bitten by the rodent at Glen Lodge care home in York.

Her family say she had "probably more than 50 bites" on her body after the incident on June 19.

"You could see she had been gnawed,? her daughter Jan Derry told The Sun.

?Her left elbow was ripped open by the rat?s teeth and there were dozens of teeth marks along her arm. She had bites all over both her hands, a couple on her chest and even on her nose."

?There were probably more than 50 bites. We think the rat was trapped in her bed with her and that is why it bit her so severely.?



Mrs Hudson was transferred to a different care home after her ordeal but died three months later.
Mrs Derry say they are still unsure whether their mother's death was directly related to the apparent attack but hit out at the council for failing to apologise.

Our thoughts are with Mrs Hudson's family, and council should apologise to Hudson’s family, this women was bitten by rats 50 times in a council run lodge, imagine if this was a private owner home the owner would have been charged with manslaughter!!!

as for rats

1) NEVER corner one, they jump fir your thothroat

2) NEVER pick up by its tail

A) swing round take chunk of leather glove out with sharp nashers

b) the tail rubs in their poo abd pish, get "wheils" dies ease
Not sure how, stops your eyes working, blind for lilfe

c) if you use veimous poison put plenty down, if you don't
Just makes the ill, then immanne system recalibrated , harder

How shocking, too many people who work in care don't care, I can't believe for one second that nobody heard this poor woman's cry’s, though judging by a recent stay on a NHS ward, the night staff go deaf, dumb and blind to just about every call for help, so sadly ignored.
And were is the environmental health inspectors, a simple solution pest control should have sorted the issue!!! Rats in 21st Century in UK care house.

You have to remember the care workers are some of the lowest paid and have to work with sh*te every day.
A fair number don't speak English and have different moral that ours, best to keep your oldies out if you can

Don't speak english in a well trained job my a**s....
I never thought crying and laughing got to do with the language issue, and as you said they do not speak English how did they got citizenship to settle in UK and got the job when they can not communicate with the patient?
