    EU reform goals

David Cameron has outlined his four goals for reforming the UK's membership of the EU, including restrictions on benefits for people coming to the UK.
He said Britain faced a "huge decision" in the in/out referendum promised before the end of 2017.
But he said he was confident of getting what he wanted from reform talks.
Anti-EU campaigners say the talks are a "gimmick" - and the European Commission said the UK's benefits proposals could break free movement laws.

Mr Cameron formally set out his demands in a letter to the president of the European Council Donald Tusk saying four objectives lie at the heart of the UK's renegotiations:
    • Protection of the single market for Britain and other non-euro countries
    • Boosting competitiveness by setting a target for the reduction of the "burden" of red tape
    • Exempting Britain from "ever-closer union" and bolstering national parliaments
    • Restricting EU migrants' access to in-work benefits such as tax credits

Mr Cameron hit back at claims by former Tory chancellor Lord Lawson that the four goals were "disappointingly unambitious", saying they reflected what the British people wanted and would be "good for Britain and good for the European Union".

David Cameron sets out his four EU reform goals - but the European Commission warns his benefit restrictions may be illegal.

I must have missed this brown mess being made public. So one at a time

He wants a single market in the EU for non EU countries? It's called the world, perhaps he should try living in it.
Companies to buy yellow or black insulation tape instead of red?
Bolster national parliaments, brick up the doors of Westminster to make sure the hot air doesn't make it fall down?
    Restriction in what way?

If this referendum was the reason people voted for teh tw@'s we have in now then they must be very disappointed. It says nothing about what he's negotiating for really. Wishy washy at most. Pile of sh*t at worst, and laughable. Hands up those that will know how he's 'won' the concessions that he's asking for... more so since he appears to be incapable of defining his goals he's setting himself.

Cameron's "negotiations" are just a knee jerk reaction of "got to be seen doing something" and aren't worth a toss, just like his Keep Us In supporters figures showing that we get more out of the EU than we put in................YEAH RIGHT !!!!!

You mean it's more like "just a jerks reaction" rather than a knee jerk reaction. I bet everyone is wondering wtf he's after really, since he is unable to actually spell out what he wants in plan English.

      Easy done tho

      1) End to the WTD - then people can be 'asked' to work more than 48 hour week, having no job if they refuse. Upside is that people can then be paid next to nothing and work 200 hours a week to get a minimum wage. Vote winner with businesses.
      2) End to any benefits for Europeans. That then allows Dave not to discriminate and end any benefits for UK citizens. Upside is to pick up the idea of the Liberal party and open workhouses for the poor, see item 1 above.
      3) End to red tape in business. Who needs regulation and standards anyway. People used to die before and no-one cared, so let's get rid of regulation and HSE, then we can have more profit. Upside being that businesses don't need to worry about health and safety and we don't have to pay pensions to those that die before they get there as a result.
      4) End to use of the NHS for foreigners. Well end it for everyone in UK as well. Sell it off, make a profit, run like hell and blame everyone else.
      5) Let's have one market and call it the world, then we can import everything from China, not just steel, and have more cannon fodder for workhouses.

I'm sure he'll have a few more, but doesn't want to say what they are.
