Cut throat battle shaves 40% off price of razors

brilliant the missus might get her own now instead of using mine to shave her legs and gash

Stubble trouble: Thierry Henry was hired by Gillette to promote its razors

Up to 40 per cent off the price of Gillette razors is being shaved off at Asda.
The supermarket has cut the brand's Fusion, Mach 3 and Mach 3 Turbo replacement cartridges from ?8 to ?5.
It says it is acting on widespread anger about the cost of shaving products - with 78 per cent of men regarding razors as the biggest ripoff item in their shopping trolleys.

Asda's move, expected to be copied by rivals Sainsbury's, Tesco and Boots, follows a Daily Mail report last June which showed a mark-up of more than 4,000 per cent on shaving products that cost a mere 5p to manufacture.
As well as slashing prices, Asda lashed out at Gillette's owner, Procter & Gamble, calling for it to listen to its customers and charge less.
Gillette has spent a small fortune to secure the services of Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Thierry Henry for its advertising campaigns.
Its replacement razor cartridges are so expensive they are the most shoplifted of all products across the High Street.

Historically, all the major supermarkets have charged exactly the same price for Gillette's razor replacement cartridges, raising suspicions of a cartel.
However, Asda has now blown this price consensus apart with a price cut it says will remain in place indefinitely.
'Razors are one of the most expensive everyday essentials shoppers put in their baskets yet are reported to cost as little as 5p to make, demonstrating just how much profit manufacturers make on every sale,' an Asda spokesman said.

The store's toiletries buyer, Graham Speak, said: 'Instead of lining the pockets of Federer, Henry and Woods, we think companies like Gillette should ditch their razorsharp pricing and put customers first, charging a fair price for an everyday product that doesn't cost a lot to make.
'We already sell great quality ownlabel razors for a fraction of the price of the leading brands, but have decided to go one step further and slash the price of Britain's most popular branded razor heads. Prices as they are, it's no wonder there is a growing trend for a bit of stubble.'
A spokesman for Procter & Gamble said it was the retailer who decided on the price of the product. However he added that it was worth paying extra for quality.
'The Fusion razor - our premium product - is simply the best and most advanced razor on the market,' he said.

New Gillette mach 5 Trusion to be introduced

Probably bringing a 21 Blade super razor out, they will be de-tuning the fusion now, like they did with the Mach3 on introduction of a new model.

*Extract taken from the xant14's book of conspiracy theories, the book that brought you 'Superglue? is it getting less super?'

Mach 3 Turbo blades are the biggest rip off. The only difference between Mach 3 and Mach3 Turbo blades is the colour. The blades on the Turbo don't vibrate, just the handle so there is no need to fork out the extra couple of quid.

As for ink cartridges, get an Epson printer. Eve if you have a perfectly good other printer its worth forking out for an Epson because you'll save the cost of the printer within a couple of sets of cartridges. Epson compatible cartridges can be picked up for less than a pound each.

I swore I would never get another epsom after my photo printer buggered up at 13 months of ownership, cost me ?120 new, they wanted ?80 to repair it.... Anyway, I must have forgot what I'd said coz I have had my next printer, an EpsonRX600 for must be 5 years now. And after the first set of original cartridges, have run it on whatever I can lay my hands on. Altho I have never seen a cartridge for mine at a quid.

well you need to lookk harder, because I have an R220 and that takes the same cartridges as yours. I go to Bowlers computer fair in Manchester and I can pick up a set of 6 for ?5, or 3 sets of 6 for ?12. I know its no use if you live nowhere near Manchester but if they can sell them there at that price I don't see why they can't sell them for that price elsewhere. If I were you I'd check out your local computer fair.

it's ok in as much that it works! However keep your Original Epson cartridges as sometimes there's compatability issues, but these can be worked around if you have the originals.

My originals used to be ?11.95 each, 6 off, ?72.00 for the 6!
Then I got britink stuff @ about ?3 each, which worked well.
I also got some other stuff that was poo. The photo's came out well 'orrible, certainly not epsom quality. I forget the exact companies that supplied the shite.
I will deffo get some of that ink you mention. is it anyplace special in the bowlers?

theres loads of places doing the similar deals. There's a company called Sunrise just as you walk into the first main room, you'll notice it by the pure amount of orange - the cartridges come in orange packets

Theres this other company called Signal down the right hand side of the first main hall. They manufacture their own cartridges and usually have a demo prnting so you can see the quality and judge for yourself, but theres loads of other places too.
