Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

US President Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".

The committee highlighted Mr Obama's efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament.

When I first heard it I thought it was a joke. Then checked the BBC News site and wow its true. Opinions?

What I dont like is all them dumb americans saying Mr Obama is going to save us all etc... The only people who can pull us out of a recession are the wall street bankers. Absolutely no government in the world can pull us out of this recession when it was the bankers greed that caused it

Clinton has done more for peace since he left office. The prizes are a farce. They are politically and racially motivated. Unless sending loads of troops to Afghanistan is promoting peace.

Lets face it the guys only a sock puppet, elected because unlike bush he can actuly form a coherent sentance and deliver it in motivational "bob the builder" terms with a straight up poker face.

He doesnt actualy have any REAL power, hes only there to stop anyone looking behind the curtain and seeing the real wizard.

If i was in his boots id be cashing in too, converting everything i own into gold bricks in an offshore bank (in wait for the dollar to finaly gasp its last breath) and plan an exit strategy to a non extradition country.
