AT LARGE Record breaking 1,400 criminals on the run in Britain ? including brutal MURDERERS and rapists ? as authorities fail to fugitives back behind bars

MORE than 1,400 convicted criminals ? including those facing serious charges such as murder and rape ? are on the run in Britain after authorities failed to track them down.
Of those at large include 15 murderers ? who the Ministry of Justice refused to name for six months, it has been revealed.
It comes as the department declined to answer a Freedom of Information request in July, MailOnline reports.
Figures from the department shows a total of 1,428 prisoners were let out at the end of September ? even though they broke their parole conditions.
The stats show the number of criminals on the run has gone up by 46 per cent since 2012 and includes 19 murderers ? four have since been recaptured.

Killers on the run include Robert Hamilton, 63, who has been free for more than 30 years after fleeing twice.
He was jailed for life in 1972 after battering a man to death but escaped Prison Sudbury in Derbyshire in 1983.
After 17 years, he was recaptured by authorities ? but in 2003, he went on the run again after he was released on licence from Wormwood Scrubs Prison in West London.
Another murderer who has been wanted since 1984, is Michael Ahearne, 59, and also Vincent King, 76, who has been a a fugitive since 1997.
Other convicted offenders on the run include 44 rapists and 189 who had served time for violent crimes.
