MICROSOFT -- ACCEPTING VISTA AS A FAILURE??

Sales of Windows 7, the newest offering in the Microsoft line, are 234% higher in the same period in their release than Windows Vista was. Profitability for the product, however, is only 82 percent higher.

Microsoft has been pushing Windows 7 Home, with its lowest price point, as the successor to Vista, considered by many to be less than successful. Microsoft's goal is to have Windows 7 do what Vista failed to do: replace its aging Windows XP.

XP may be aging - but it works [for me any way!!]

If Microsoft want to replace XP properly they need to make sure of 2 things first; A) make sure the latest Windows does everything that XP does, which currently it does not. B) Officially shut down update support for XP. Which they will be doing.

The main problem Microsoft has regarding XP is the fact that it runs well on any system, but for those with a decent system it will run like greased lightning - until it gets clogged up with crap, which will slow any system down significantly.

There wouldn't be much difference apart from subtle or annoying differences in both cases unless you have a bog standard household PC or laptop in which case there's apparently quite a big performance difference in favor of Windows 7.

But I've got a decent machine so I see not much difference, but for me the 2 most annoying things about Windows 7 is they took out dreamscene moving desktop and more to the point took out the option for you to rearrange files in any order you wish by dragging the files around inside it's folder. So damn annoying!! Of course the Vista haters and Windows7 fanboys completely ignore or disregard this fact like it's nothing when it quite clearly isn't nothing. Especially when you want things displayed a certain way...unless it's just me who's an obsessive compulsive in that regard . But I don't think so.

Since people refused to go forwards regarding their PC's during Vista's lifetime, and popular opinion deciding that Vista got far too much flak than it ever deserved at any point, then yes, Windows has gone backwards all in the name of clawing performance back for the majority who still have household non-gaming PC's and laptops. Needlessly going backward too, I might add. The only redeeming quality is the speed gain, yet that doesn't affect me either way because I have a decent gaming machine though by no means the best nor mega expensive either. Just enough education to perform.
