Yes the original design was to run on easily obtainable material but over the years the injection system make it less able to run on simple cheap growable fuel.
A few years back I saw a car that ran on chocolate (coca butter) clean burn cheap and very low engine wear.
Very unpopular with the petrochemical business. Also about 15 years ago veg oil was 29p a litre vs ?1.00 plus diesel then suddenly up when the price of veg oil to similar how do I know that? I had just purchased a diesel van idea to run on 50/50 mix van had wrong type diesel pump, veg oil even with heated line F**K the pump

so where do we get cinder blocks from then?

        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concrete_masonry_unit

If cinder blocks is the issue ,you can always import raw material from germany
Another 'green' country ,where you got to have a round green sticker stuck on the windshield
to have access in some towns...
A failure will not appear till a unit has passed final inspection

To qualify as a fire tender all you need is a axe and fire extinguisher then get it type approved if I remember correct?
A friend had a red Land rover approved that way to exempt MOT!
