Google faces mass legal action in UK over data snooping

Google is being taken to court, accused of collecting the personal data of millions of users, in the first mass legal action of its kind in the UK.

It focuses on allegations that Google unlawfully harvested information from 5.4 million UK users by bypassing privacy settings on their iPhones.

The group taking action - Google You Owe Us - is led by ex-Which director Richard Lloyd.

He estimates the users could get as much as "several hundred pounds each".

Search giant is accused of unlawfully harvesting the personal information of millions of UK iPhone users.

When the system is too good to be true it’s probably fishy!!!
Can’t wait to be compensated for both my iPhone and iPad but I am not holding my breath, they may try to wriggle, goggle out of it. Not guaranteed before next Christmas....

Well then the govt and big industry on that account should owe you a lot more that "several hundred pounds" for there failure in protecting your personal data, medical records and information collected. Instead expect to get a tax rise and your personal transport made illegal

The result of that case will be, government gets money by fining Google, users get eff all, and government pays money out to MP's in extra expenses.
