Don't know about anyone else but I'm fed up with businesses charging for everything under the sun.
Given the amount of junk mail we all receive, why don't we charge a ?5 handling fee to every company responsible for littering our homes with crap that we will never use? The British consumer is smart enough to find anything they need without having to cope with a ton of waste paper!!!!

then my application. They informed me that it they are not pleased that
they footed the bill for the crap I sent them. I reply with "It says
Business Reply Mail" I'm suggesting coupons to you to ensure that your
business is more successful. They promptly hang up on me.

added idea! I added exactly 33 cents worth of pennies to the envelope
so they paid EXTRA due to the weight. I got a call informing me about
the money, I said it was a mistake and I demanded my change back. After
yelling at the clerk and then to the supervisor they agreed to my
demands and cut me a check for the money. I hold in my hand at this
very moment a check from GTE Visa for exactly 33 cents.

Great ideas guys.
I've already tried sending back empty envelopes but it doesn't work as the companies have no idea who sent it.
The crap I tend to get is from restaurants, taxi companies and big stores offering 'promotions'. They've even got the Royal Mail delivering this shit!
I don't know about you guys, but my local council is threatening to start charging tax by the weight of rubbish thrown out. So why not make the companies pay the tax.
You know it makes sense.

I read an article a few months back about an American who got a divorce because his wife kept binning the junk mail.

Apparently he saved it up all year and used it in his wood burning furnace in the winter to heat the house for free

Just think off all that free fuel yuve got, hell if i had a wood furnace id be actively applying for junk mail

Try thinking like a business. For every 50 items of junk mail, what benefits you most? The energy savings or charging a fiver per item???

All this junk mail is worth a lot of money to Royal Mail so of course they're gonna keep delivering it.

However, instead of sending the back in the prepaid envelope, get a blank envelope, write the adress on yourself and send it back with no stamp. I know it will cost you a little to buy the envelopes, but it will cost them the price of a stamp PLUS a ?1 Royal Mail handing fee to get the letter, and lets face it, the probably will pay it cos they think it might be an application inside!

can't rember the excat wording but "sending stuff in the post liabale to to cause offense or intended harm" springs to mind.

the point is to piss em off, and in my opinion the minimal expense of an envelope is well worth it to have them incur a ?1.30 charge

if you're too miserly for that then just nick some from the stationary cupboard at work
