A SENIOR Labour minister said last night that new immigrants should be BANNED from claiming benefits.Culture minister Margaret Hodge said the Government must stand up for people who have lived in Britain "all their lives".


In a bombshell for Gordon Brown, she said migrants should not get benefits the minute they arrive. Instead, the right to handouts should be based on how long people have lived here or how much National Insurance they have paid.
Ms Hodge spoke out as she prepares for a fight to stop BNP leader Nick Griffin from winning her Barking and Dagenham seat in East London.
The minister - from an immigrant family - said: "We need a points system that ensures economic migrants can only access benefits when they have paid into the system. This isn't about race, it's about having a system that is fair.
"We should feel comfortable prioritising the people who have lived in an area all of their lives."
Immigration campaigners welcomed her remarks. Migrationwatch UK chairman Sir Andrew Green said: "For years there has been a real sense of unfairness."

At last, someone has spoken what the majority of the UK have thought for years. No matter what way you look at it, the system has failed people in the UK and favoured those who have come to this country as immigrants.

With the recession and the public spending is coming down. Along with taxes going up, the government has to be seen doing something else aswell to ease it on the Tax Payer. Maybe ministers should also be paying thier way just like Adam who has a Wife, 2 kids, mortgage, a car to run and his families future to plan for? He dont get all that paid for as well as 1 60k a year wage does he?

i would stop cancel houses, dole etc to majority of uk citizens as well. i work and pay for these ~~~~ing spongers, its like lets have another kid, get a four bed house, council tax and rent more or less paid for. if i was to stop work, i would lose my house and probably get next to no help, my mate who ran his own business and had to shut it down, was told no help available.

plenty of work out there, if these scroungers dont find a job after a month, kick them on the street, fed up working and paying for these lazy barstewards.

Points systems are notoriously open to abuse, just look at the council housing system, the only way to get housed around here is to blatantly lie. If i want a council house i need to have all manner of ailments, several children and be able to rub my belly whilst i pat my head.

I can see a points system as just another way to **** the decent common man out of his due, presented under the guise of "getting it up the god damned immigants!"

so burn the long term unemployed and failed asylum seeker
in the power stations saves on benefits and fuel and also frees up council house for those who have paid taxes all there lives and fallen on hard times

Unemployed British people should be offered the jobs and told their benefits will be stopped unless they take them and immigrants should be sent back where they came from if they have no jobs.Life is made so easy for spongers they dont have the will or incentive to work.

I think anyone unemployed for longer than 6 months should be made to do full-time community work to actually earn their benefits.
There are too many of them in this country scrounging a living without being made to do anything. Its the kids of these kind of people who will suffer as well. Its a vicious circle...the kids will see their parents have never done a days work in their life and they will grow up with the same attitude.

Its time to put a stop to it.

imho, if they out all the migrant workers, increase the poor excuse for a minimum wage to about ?8 an hour, people would rush to fill the vacancies, whether it be sweeping streets, cleaning shite houses etc, and them families still struggling can still get tax credits, after this them idle coonts who simply wont work then get benefits stopped. country sorted. i was working over 70 hours a week for ?400, ?400 sounds brill to me for 39 hours a week, and dont tell me companies couldnt afford the extra ?2 hour per employee, load of bollox, the gov could even give the companies tax allowances to help out, but they wont do this cause the just greedy ~~~~ers
