MIGRANTS wrongfully detained by officials at Britain?s airports and ports have won millions in compensation, it was revealed yesterday.
Figures uncovered by the BBC show payouts of more than ?2million over the past three years to 121 individuals ? an average of ?16,000 each
All were initially locked up on suspicion of being in the UK illegally, but later freed.
Immigration Minister Phil Woolas confirmed the figures but attacked lawyers for encouraging claimants to take costly legal action.
