New laws being introduced into Parliament on Monday make it specifically illegal to have someone from a different household in your home in England.
Until now anyone visiting a home that isn't their own would have been breaking the law - now it is illegal for both the visitor and the host.
The rules apply even if you are in a relationship with the other person or they are family.
The rules come into force as lockdown is eased in England to allow up to six people to meet in a garden - but those new rules make it clear you can only go into a house to use the toilet or to walk through to a garden.
People who may be deemed to have a reasonable excuse are sports professionals, people attending funerals, vulnerable persons fleeing a risk of violence, carers and those with unavoidable work
