Boobquake bid to prove cleric wrong

A US student has attracted 30,000 supporters for a Facebook campaign urging women to show as much cleavage as possible to prove that breasts do not cause earthquakes.
Jen McCreight's Boobquake day on Monday April 26 is in protest against an Iranian cleric who claimed that women who do not cover up were to blame for predictions that Tehran would be hit by a quake.
Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi said: "Many women who do not dress modestly... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes."
Women in the Islamic Republic are required by law to cover from head to toe, but Sedighi says an increase in young women flaunting the law is risking the lives of Tehran's 8.5 million inhabitants.
Ms McCreight, a student at West Lafayette, Indiana, is determined to prove him wrong through her Boobquake campaign.
"Sedighi claims that not dressing modestly causes earthquakes. If so, we should be able to test this claim scientifically," she wrote.
"On Monday, April 26, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own. Yes, the one usually reserved for a night on the town.
"I encourage other female sceptics to join me and embrace the supposed supernatural power of their breasts. Or short shorts, if that's your preferred form of immodesty.
"With the power of our scandalous bodies combined, we should surely produce an earthquake.
"If not, I'm sure Sedighi can come up with a rational explanation for why the ground didn't rumble."
