I never claimed anyone was innocent, I'm saying it is higly likely that innocent people would be sent to thier deaths as a result of misjudgment and the death penalty, not one innocent life is worth it and the state recognises this!

"Its well over due for people to became more barbaric in my opinion" this is exactly the same people who you would like to see get the death penalty, those who are the most barbaric
Not at all, take tribal societies largely considered barbaric, criminals are either executed or ostracised/exiled removing them from the protection afforded by the society they once hailed from. Easy pickings for the tribe 25 miles over thats in conflict with yours.
The entire genesis of the word is from greece and is similar to the Japanese Gaijin or forigner whom doesnt speak the civilised tongue.
Im all for a society where people dont speak the "civilised" tongue.

Even taking the meaning of brutal and insensitive, thats also a step in the right direction in my opinion. Tree hugging, bleeding heart, emo liberals have caused all manner of grief and problems.
"oh but you cant hurt people" screw that for an ethos, im more old testement and firmly believe in an eye for an eye, if someone does something then they should be fully accountable.
All "turning the other cheeck" gets you is nailed to a god damned plank with your legs broken, and rightfully so.

No one commits a capital crime thinking that its acceptable behavior either, and as for the point on wrongful execution? thats a judiciary problem and its far more pleasant to be ganked for a crime you didnt commit than jailed with a bunch of people who did and will happily bend you over in the shower for the next 35 to life, The problem with wrongful execution does not lie with the execution its with the entire judiciary process. weve reached a stage now that evidence is such that its possible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defandant is guilty, it just costs a stack to produce any high tech evidence, this would easily be solved by funneling the money saved and generated from large scale executions towards forensics.

As to the point of it not cutting down crime? thats because its all became too civilised and sanitised, locked away from the public eye like some dirty little secret. Id make a spectacle of it, something cruel, brutal, inhumane and entirely too shocking for the public a large to forget about or avoid. Id telivise it BEFORE the watershed, after explaining to yoour 4yr old son why a naked man is having his genitals hacked off with a blowtorch as foreplay to the next six days of his torture, with medics in tow to sustain his aggony as long as possable, i sincerely doubt hed think about growing up to be a serial rapist.
Let criminals know that if theyre going to do the crime then the end result is a painful, excruciating drawn out death where all your friends and family get to watch on in horror and shame.

The modern prison system doesnt cut down on crime rates either. What kind of deterant is a nice comfortable living accommodation with your choice of degree courses?
Ive lived in a society for long enough now to see that crime far outweighs the punishment. Im all up for regressing to the old adage of "crime doesnt pay."
Make the punishment so inconcievably horrific that even considering commiting a capital offence will make a person violently ill and id say youve won the war.

I'm going to throw this off the track for a minute, but it's for a reason.

Recently I caught part of a 'news story' about complaint's of bullying in the army (possibly the marines). This is being investigated. Bloody pinko liberals are even weakening the armed forces.
These men & women sign up knowing that the service they give to our country could cost them their lives. Yet there are those who can't hack it, who would be washed out. But they complain about bullying & get settlements or a 'there, there, where would you like to go?'
What happens to these people when they are captured & torchered by the enemy? I can hear their sobbing & whining already... "leave me alone! This isn't fair! Where's your commanding officer I want to complain about your treatment of me."

Military training, just like a prison sentence, should be hard. One is preparing you for the harshness & reality of war. The other is a punishment for not following the rules placed upon us by society.
If you make them soft & comfy they're no longer fit for purpose.

Punishments have to be harsh. Which of the following is the best deterrent...

If you steal my car you'll be given a slap on the wrist, 6 points on the license you don't have or care about & a ?200 fine.

          or

If you steal my car you're gonna be beaten to within a hairs breadth of your life, dragged naked through the streets & locked in the stocks for 2 days next to the town hall.

i see peter dobin is making headlines again and the police are searching his ex houses looking for the bodies of yet more young women.now there lies a man with out any shadow of doubt the death penalty is a must for.his crimes stretch over long periods, age did not matter for his victims.just one of his normal crimes...

On 4 August 1993, Tobin attacked two 14-year old girls at his flat in Havant, after they had come round to babysit his young son. After holding them at knifepoint and forcing them to drink strong cider and vodka, Tobin sexually assaulted and raped them. He then turned on the gas taps and left them for dead but they both survived the attack. he pled guilty and do you know what he got 14 years!!! evil all his life and always will be no point in keeping them alive after the first crime and allowing them out to do it all again.just think of all the lifes saved and families saved from going through all the pain

            bring back the DEATH PENALTY

You can quote the problems like those above till your blue in the face, the facts are the prisons are full to breaking point, most criminals get caught and get sent to prison, like it or not that is how a civilised society deals with crime, it may not be ideal but it is much better than the barbaric practice of revenge killing.
Best cost cutting of the tax payers cash if you ask me give them the chair or whatever after 15 years. it's a hell of a lot cheaper than keeping them for 99 years(life in the states). The modern prison system doesn't cut down on crime rates either. All you hear is how easy it is to get drugs and mobile phones in prison. Guilty of murder rape etc shouldn't mean 14 years at centre parks but we'll let you out after 7 for good behaviour. Good behaviour means you don't go in in the first place do the crime take the punishment chain-gangs should be the minimum not community service.

It doesn't matter how much you argue about the pro's and con's of it being brought back,it ain't gonna happen.

Capital Punishment is itself a premeditated murder. It doesn't make it right and would make a civilised state authority no better than the actual person who committed the crime.

It doesn't work in any country that still adopts it and its certainly not a deterrent against violent crime. Take the good old USA for instance...according to a New York Times study, the last 20 years witnessed 48% homicide rate in states with the implementation of capital punishment compared to 23% in the states without capital punishment.

All the death penalty does is feeds the cycle of violence in society by pandering to a lust for revenge.

So no, I don't think it would be beneficial to bring it back.

I'm sure we are all aware of the penalties imposed in Muslim states.

Every video I've seen shows someone shit scared of the consequences of their actions. None of this 'yeah. what ya gonna do' bravado. That & they have to live with the disfigurement for the rest of their lives.

I'm not saying this is the way to go. Just that some forms of punishment can strike fear into peoples hearts.

i can see the arguements for and against this.
                        for:
                        1. some ~~~~ers definately deserve it.
                        2. it would save a fortune on keepin these bsterds alive.
                        3. it might make some people think twice before commiting these horrendous crimes

                        against:
                        1. mistakes could be made. no matter how good a system is, nothing is perfect.
                        2. the money saved from keepin them alive would be eclipsed by public enquires into these cases. this country can't make its mind up about anything. example.
Lets go to war in iraq. then wait a minute who's ~~~~in idea was that? lets have a huge expensive inquiry into that.
Or lets build a milleniun dome. then. Who's ~~~~in idea was that? let's sell it and have a bid expensive inquiry into it. Then who ~~~~in sold it? lets have another expensive inquiry into that.
maybe its a good thing we always question ourselves about everything, but can you imagine the fallout years down the line if the government actually went through with willfully killing someone?
                        3. would it actually stop any of these lunatics?
yer man tobin is ~~~~in nuts, he doesnt seem to think he has done anything wrong... and as for these extremist phycho's, they don't give a ~~~~ whether they live or die...
                        4. britain would not be allowed to enforce this law.
we have been stopped from extradicting lunatics by european courts because they might get life sentences in america...
can't see them letting us shoot the ~~~~ers.
we have to accept too much control has been passed over to europe...

i agree with the last post 100%
maybe we should let these ~~~~ers live in the mainstream prison ?
instead of giving them protection ect if theyre nuts... then let the other inmates ive them a hiding daily or just one terminal kicking ?
                          and save he country millions
and maybe clear the wayfor these sick bastards not to want to go there
and in the process preventing another sicko
from doing it with the fear of getting locked up and really not getting out ?
