Seized, underage drinkers' stash given to them by their parents for ONE weekend

At first glance, it looks like the booze aisle at a supermarket.
But this astonishing haul of alcohol was actually the weekend holiday supply for nine 16-year-olds - apparently given to them by their parents.
Police seized the stash, comprising 369 bottles or cans of beer, cider and spirits, following a tip-off from a concerned manager of holiday apartments in Newquay, a town that has become a magnet for middle-class teenagers involved in under-age drinking.

Do you think we've got enough? This seizure of 369 cans and bottles was made after a tip-off from a concerned hotel manager in Newquay

When officers asked the youngsters where they got it all from, they were told their parents bought it for them.
Dozens of cans of strong lager, cheap cider and bottles of bourbon, vodka, Malibu and 65 per cent proof rum, were confiscated. The teenagers, from Bristol, were visiting the Cornish town for the weekend to celebrate finishing their GCSEs.
They were preparing for a night out in the resort and had already mixed spirits into plastic water bottles when officers searched their rooms at 5.40pm on Saturday.

Pol ice have implemented a zero-tolerance approach in the town, sending home anyone under-age caught drinking following the deaths of two teenagers last year and an outcry from residents.
Paddy Higgins, 16, was killed after falling 100ft from a cliff during an alcohol-fuelled holiday to celebrate the end of his GCSEs last year. An inquest last month revealed the popular schoolboy-had drunk up to six cans of strong lager at a campsite before going on to drink more alcohol at a restaurant where he and his under-age friends were served shots of sambuca.
Just days earlier, Andrew Curwell, a privately educated 18-year-old from West Yorkshire, was found at the bottom of the cliffs on nearby Great Western Beach.
Last week, the Daily Mail found teenagers as young as 15 were holidaying in the resort, drinking on the beach and indulging in anti-social behaviour.
Police allowed the 16-year-olds from Bristol to stay on at the holiday apartments because they had not yet consumed the alcohol.
They were, however, given a stern warning to behave while on holiday.
