The workforce that makes Tunnock's teacakes and caramel wafers is holding a one-day strike at its Uddingston plant.
The action follows the rejection of a 2% pay offer.
Workers at the Lanarkshire factory have also voted to follow up with another stoppage next Tuesday and a continuous work-to-rule.
Members will formally vote on whether to accept or reject the offer with a ballot due to close on 4 October.
It is understood that about 500 employees are taking part in the 24-hour industrial action.
The plant, founded in 1850, produces well-known confections such as Teacakes and Caramel Wafers.
Ahead of the industrial action, Unite spokesman Derek Ormstone said: "The members feel let down and angry and believe the 2% increase does not go far enough.
"They believe that Tunnock's approach has been all about smoke and mirrors rather than genuine negotiations.
"Strike action will now go ahead - but we still remain available to talk."
Well my work voted on a 3 percent pay rise and we are still waiting for the results 8 days after the vote took place!!!!
i am gratefull for any offer of a pay rise but with vat set to hit 20 percent from january for the forseeable future will a three percent swallow up the 2.5 precent increase???? i doubt it
