The whole article is meant for you to feel bad so you will open your wallet. This is what the left does they feel everyone should be equal even if they need to reach into your pocket and give your money to someone else. This is why we have a housing problem thru out the world. we gave people money they could never pay back cause they couldn't afford a house. Once we stop the nannie state that is when things will get better. I'll tell you the next big thing is the poor out birthing the people who actually work and pay taxes. If you could solve that problem you will cure the ills of the world. So even thou i somewhat feel bad for those 1 million kids it's not their fault they are economically disadvantage it's cause their parents can't provided for them.

some people are to lazy but to even prove that they atre on the dole, make a few phone calls and fill in some forms to provide these computers to there children that are paid through the tax payer.

And lets face it ?500 would get a child a cracking PC for there needs.

Nothing is for free. Someone is paying for that. When you have programs like that no one ever tries to get off welfare. They make it a way of life and the sad thing is most of their children become depended on the government too. This is the cycle that needs to be broken. They should take their children and make them join the armed forces where they will gain some self respect and learn something other than sponging off the government and make a life for themselves. maybe it's harsh forcing them but something has to be done. The way I look at it that our children?s need computers in the 21st centuries no question about it but it should be free for all and not for the parents which are on dole. The previous government promised us that all homes will be provided with free broadband, good old Labour lets get the hell out of hear and we are behind you on this matter.

Interesting thread guys

I also do not want to rant and rave about benefit louts but there has already been help for people with new cars , leather setees, big tv's...... I mean people on low income. It was called the home access grant. Basically people on low income got a grant worth ?528 to buy a laptop and accessories which also came with 1 years internet via a t-mobile dongle. A friend of mine started dating a girl who got this grant .... she can now multi task,....... watching Jeremy Kyle and playing games on facebook. She said a lot of her friends got the grant and then sold the stuff as they already have a laptop / pc and internet at home!!!

I think the grant is coming to a close now.... but 270000 grants have been handed out
