i remember listening to an article on dirty bombs on radio 4.

basically the upshot of it is that dirty bombs are not that dangerous.

i cant find the original article, but found this instead....
sort of saying the same thing.

i am no expert on these matters, but might be worth a read......

Nuclear armaments are a nightmare to produce, you need an enriched radioactive isotope like Plutonium (you need to remove the majority of Pu-240 isotopes to be left with a bulk ratio of Pu-239) or Uranium (enriching uranium to include more U-235 isotopes than U-238) this creates a lot of left over "depleted Uranium" or U-238.

The thing is you need to allow the material to go into fission by blasting an isotope with a slow moving neutron, this then splits and bombards other isotopes causing them to split and in the blink of an eye you've got millions of splits happening an things go bang. High concentrations of either Pu-240 or U-235 means things get unstable and a stray particle can cause the entire thing to decide to detonate, the ratios have to be spot on. :/

You could be seen as a 'enemy combatant' terrorist by the Americans and are liable to be arrested and taken to Guantanamo Bay for torture.

nobody know about Al'Qaida, there training camps span the globe and have an underground network of millions of people willing to help. they can get anything they want, for nothing. Iran's nuclear facility is much more than a power station and we all know that. Al'qaida is still growing and who know there capabilities. take it from an arab, terrorism never stops and will always grow.

whilst, for osama he's probably dead. But he was only the founder, and now he's a ghost that the true leaders rely upon as cover. when i go over to my home country in the summer, you'd hear talks about this and that and the tru thing is... every terrorist organisation in the globe has a link with al'qaida. I think Al'Qaida have the ability and the 'know how' in making WMD's. it's just they would actually never use it, unless provoked. They know the damage it does and to be honest if they ever did use one. it would be 9/11 all over again, not somewhere in iraq or Afghanistan. Most likely Israel is next... i mean everywhere has been hit but not israel.
