Taunted ... fed-up Harrison
A LAD of ten has been carpeted for racism - after he referred to a white classmate whose name is Brown as "chocolate brownie."
Harrison Wiener made the quip after the nine-year-old teased him over his surname.
The classmate had called Harrison "sausage boy" - because Wiener is a word Americans use for a hot dog sausage.
So he hit back by saying "Shut up, chocolate brownie," comparing his pal to the popular cake.
Race cake row ... chocolate brownie
But the bemused lad was hauled before the head, accused of making a racist remark and ordered to apologise.
Now his stunned mum Clare has learned the incident will be "noted" in Harrison's file and reported to the local education authority.
Insurance underwriter Clare said: "Harrison has been left really upset by this and made to feel like he's done something terrible.
It's crazy.
One boy taunted him by making his surname sound like a snack - and he responded by making the other boy's surname sound like a cake.
"How can calling a white boy named Brown a chocolate brownie be racist?
Cake mix-up ... MP has written to school asking for an explanation
"Harrison was told the word brownie is a racist word. But it's the name of a cake you can buy in any coffee shop."
Mum-of-two Clare said that if anyone was a racism victim it was Harrison because classmates regularly mocked his Austrian-derived surname.
Clare's MP, former Labour minister Michael Meacher, has now written to Thorp Primary School in Royton, Oldham, asking for an explanation.
Head Stuart Bennett said: "It is inappropriate to comment about individual cases."
